What is Burial Plot?
[F] [Dm]
[D] [Dm]
[Bb] [Dm] The end [Gm] of a relationship that he had been in, that both he and [Dm] I thought was going to [Bb] last a very, very long time.
[Dm] We wrote Burial [D] Plot basically around [Gm] this [C] timing of when we were on Warped Tour [Bb]
last year.
I [F] didn't know at the [Dm] time, but he was having a lot of issues [C] with his relationship.
He came [Am] home and, [F] you know, unfortunately there wasn't [Dm] really anything that could be said or done [C] to stop that relationship from dissipating.
[A]
[Bb] It's interesting because I [Dm] obviously was not in the relationship, [C] but I knew his girlfriend very well.
[Bb] I obviously knew Mike [Dm] very well, he's one of my closest friends, and so it [C] was hard to see him [Dm] go through [Bb] that.
But it also felt like, to some extent, [Dm] that almost with that [C] relationship ending, I was losing her as a friend.
So I felt like I [Bbm] was kind [F] of losing somebody from my life.
[Dm] Obviously not to the same extent that Mike was, but [C] there were obviously things in the relationship [Am] that [F] I think that he wished that he could have maybe done [Dm] differently.
That could [C] have hopefully helped him from not splitting [D] up at the end of the day.
But [F]
[Gm] I think that it resonated with me a lot [Bb] what he was going through, because I've been in that position where [Dm] you get left by somebody.
[C] [F] And it just doesn't feel [Bb] like there's anything [F] you can really say or [Dm] do to change their mind.
[C] And I just really wanted to help him [Am] capture how he was feeling.
[Dm] Because when he was opening up to me, I realized there was [Bb] a lot to be said, [Dm] and a lot that people like myself or other listeners could relate to, to a heavy degree.
So we kind of came up with this concept of burial plot kind of being a [F] marked grave for a [Bb] couple.
But it's sort of, obviously not that they're [Dm] both dying, but that
[C] it's kind of like the death of their relationship [Am] overall.
[F] And I think it's more so kind of finding within yourself [Dm] that you truly accept that [C] it's kind of like your fault at the end of the day that [D] the relationship is ending.
[F]
And that [Gm] there's really nothing that [Bb] you could have done to change things even though you [Dm] want to.
And so I hope people [C] who hear this song [F] kind of find some relatability with that [Bb] topic.
[Dm] It was great to [C] work with Mike and get to collaborate [Am] and make something
