Hey, this is JJ.
I wanted to talk to you guys about drop two voicings taught this quite a few other videos
but I wanted to
It's a good way when if you're becoming familiar with the keyboard
It's a drop two voicings are a good way to become familiar with all of the keys
We all know that the scale [C] and the number system
[Dm] One chord is gonna be major choose gonna be minor [F] degree is gonna be minor four is gonna be major
Five [Am] gonna be major six [B] gonna be minor seven is gonna be [G] diminished or what you can do is a five
six three inversion and [C] then resolve back to one so
where if the bass [G] players on one four and [B] five major chord two three and [G] six minor and then diminished or
You can do five chord instead of the diminished.
[A]
So let's talk about [Gb] drop two
[C] And basically it's just a major chord
Any chord with the second highest note dropped an octave down so I'm gonna play CC [Fm] FF
C
[E]
G and that's how the bass is [C] gonna go
So so check it out [F]
[G] and then we're gonna go to a minor but we're gonna do an F major [F] 7 drop 2
Here's an F.
Here's an F major 7.
Here's an F major 7 and inversion of that.
Here's an F major 7 drop 2
so we're gonna use that [Am] in
Instead of our a minor [D] so check this out
[F] [G] and then G [F] drop 2 F drop [C] 2
C and then C
Now you got to understand that the bass note the bass note can take any of the three notes in the triad
[E] So what [C] you're doing is you're exploring that still playing the drop 2
Chords, but you're using inversions of the same chord.
So CC [F] F
F
[G] C G [Am] F
Major 7 or this is your substitute for a [G] minor and then [F] G
4 is gonna be your F drop [C] 2 so you want to do that and and
When you get good at the number system, you can play a scale and you can play a scale of chords
[A] [C] But you can also mess with your drop 2 [G] [C]
and then you can learn [Gb] that and every key
[Db]
[D] [B] [G]
[Gbm] [D] [A]
[D] So we're in D right now
And the nice thing about it is if you're down low since you're using your minimal notes
It it sounds pretty [G] good [D] very very hopeful very it very
Intimate worshipful, but because the chords are major based
[G]
[A] It's kind of like as you ascend up with the chords [D] you're using
[A] it becomes [D] hopeful and [A]
[G] [D] [A]
then [B] we could do this is a
Chromatic idea.
I'm actually using B drop 2 [Em] E minor drop 2 and
then [D] D [G] and
Then back to G and then [A] so you want to learn this in every [B] learn it in E
[A] guitarist lovey
[E] Because you got those [B] open chords with guitar and then F
[Am]
[F] [G] So you want to go ahead and learn that and here's a trick I can show you where you can exploit
And actually pull from another key, so I'm gonna go [D] back to C
[G] [E]
Right.
So let's [C] do C [G] and then [B] that a minor substitution.
[G] Excuse me
Which is gonna be your F
Well, no, this is sorry
[C] [G] One this is their G and then the a minor [F] substitution is here.
There we [D] go
[F] so
[Am] [C] [G] so C G
[Am] F major 7 or substitution for a minor now check this out.
We're gonna take [Ab] from a flat
[Eb]
[Bb] [C] Because I actually took the C drop 2 [Ab] and turned it into an a flat major 7 drop 2
because a flat [C] the third of a flat is the same as
the one in C, so that's C, [Ab] but there's a flat and
Since they share the same note I'm able to keep that bass and pull you into a [Eb] flat
[Bb]
[Gm] Temporarily and then jump you back [C] into C in jazz music
They do that a lot if I did two [A] five one six and then I could pull you into [G] another key
[C] And then jump you back into so basically jump you back into whatever key I had you in before it makes music interesting
so so you could
Go ahead [Bb] and meditate on these [G] chords, they're very
[F]
good to [Em] practice they get you proficient in your keys and they've they
They they actually you can play these chords by yourself and you can enter into worship
Just with these simple simple chords
[F] [C] [F]
[A] [C] [G]
[Bm] [F] [Dm]
[C] [G]
[C]
remember that what I in that last video and
[G] [C]
[F] [C] [Bm]
[F] [C] [G]
[C]
[F] [C]
[Bm] [G] [F] [C]
[G]
[C] Thank you very much
