Start Jamming...
Hey guitar buddies, it's time for some Quo.
Let's have a bit of Caroline.
So we start on an F and I'm playing just the F and C notes, 8 and 10 on the A and D [F] strings.
And then we've got [Bm] this
the D on the 12th, the E flat on the 13th and
back to the 12th.
So we've got the classic Quo [F] riff.
Yeah, instantly recognizable as the Quo there.
Now, over that
we've got this riff that comes in.
[Fm]
[Bb]
[Ab] [F]
Great little riff.
So I'm playing an F.
[Bb] Two F's and a B flat [A] and an A.
[F] So 3, 3, 3, 2.
[A] [F]
Then F again.
[Dm]
[Bb] B [A] flat, [F] A, [Bb] F, [F] B flat, A.
[Bb]
[A] I [Eb] just keep [F] repeating that pattern.
[Ab]
Then we switch over the B flat chord.
So it goes to B flat.
Then we get an A flat, which is the seventh note of
the B flat 7.
[A] So it works.
It's got that great little shift in tonality from the A, which is the third of the major scale being [Ab] F major,
to an A flat, which is in [F] the minor third of the F scale.
In F minor.
So you get a nice little shift in tonality there.
So we go
[Ab] [Bb]
[Ab] So we're playing just the same, but instead of playing the second fret, we're playing [B] the first [F] fret.
[C]
[Ab] [G] And then we go back to the F.
[F]
[D] [N] And then we get this little lick.
[Dm] So I'm playing [Bbm] A, B flat, 2, [C] 3, C
on 1,
[Bb] [A] 3, [Ebm] 2, [Eb] B flat, [G] A, open [A] G, [B] back to [Gm] A.
[Bm] [Ab]
[A] [Ab] [Am] Let's do a little [Ab] trill.
[Bb]
So A, [A] B flat, A.
Hammering and pulling off.
[Ab]
3 on the B flat, 3 on the A flat, sorry.
[G] [Ab]
Open G.
[G] [Ab]
[F] Then
[Bb] [A]
[Bb] back to the first riff.
So I'll play it all through slowly.
[Ab] [Bb] [Ab]
[Bbm] [Ab] [F]
[Bb]
[A]
[F] [Bb]
[Em] Great fun riff.
And the chords for the songs, the basic kind of three chord [F] structure.
F, [Bb] B flat,
[F] F, [C]
C, [F] F,
[C] C.
And that repeats for the verse and then the chorus is
[F]
[Bb]
[G] [F]
[Gb] [Bb]
[E] [F] [C]
So what I played there is an [F] F, but [N] I'm hammering onto the bottom note from an [F] E.
[Bb]
B [Bm] flat, [F] back to an F.
[C] Take my hand up to the
[Am] C, [Bb] B flat, [E] [F] F.
[C] [N]
So great fun song to play.
Just three chords and a great little riff.
So have fun with the quo.
