_ _ [Gm] _ [C] _ _ _ _ _
_ [Bb] _ _ _ _ _ _ [C] _
_ _ [Cm] _ [C] _ _ _ _ _
_ [Bb] _ [Cm] _ [Eb] Okay, _ _ _
[G] _ _ [C] _ _ _ [N] I love to praise him, old, old Milton Brunson number.
At one point everybody used to do that one.
But it's a good opportunity to also show a few little fill-ins for that _ type of very
old traditional rocking hand-clapping one.
Okay, _ and a couple of theory things.
When you have something like that, you [C] can do major, minor, major.
_ Or you could do minor, minor, minor.
C major, D minor.
Or C major, D minor.
I'm sorry, you could do C major, D minor.
[Dm] _ _ _ [C] See, you make a rhythm with [D] that.
_ _ [G] _ [F] _ Or you could do minor, minor, [Dm] minor.
_ _ _ [C] Same thing, though, except you could either use C major with D minor or C minor with [Cm] D minor.
_ It [N] gives it more of a funkier kind of soulful sound, right?
Okay, so most of the time I love [Cm] to praise _ C minor and D [Cm] minor.
Up to A.
And then chromatic up to C.
_ [A] _ See that A goes right before D minor.
[Cm] _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
[A] So when you walk [Bb] that up, when you get to that B flat, that's when you put that D with
it, just for [C] rhythm thing.
_ _ [Cm] _ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ And that's C minor too, but just with a dominant on it.
So still C minor, but it's C minor seventh this time.
D minor to C minor.
And then [Bb] [Cm] M.
_ [A] _ I [Bb] love to praise his name.
I [C] love [D] to.
Your fill in chord is going to be a D.
That's a D, dominant with a flat nine.
[G] And that's because you're back cycling.
You're going to the G.
So before you go to G, your back cycle, or if you fill in, is
D.
I love to praise.
I love to praise.
Since you're going to G, you can always hit a D before.
Whenever you go into five, you can hit two.
[Em] All right.
I love to praise [Bm] his name.
I love to praise.
If you wanted to, you could, you know.
[C] As long as you move by fourths, your fill in chords are most of the time are a fourth
before or back cycling.
All right.
So when you put that together, I love to, right?
[G] All right, that's just blues scale.
_ [Cm] I love to praise. _
_ _ I love to praise his name.
I love [G] to praise.
Now what is that?
Major, minor, chromatic, minor.
I'm sorry.
Major, minor, chromatic, major is another fill in I talk about all the time.
If I'm on G major, _ one of my fill ins is major, minor again.
I could do chromatic or a part of it.
See how the B and the D go down a half step?
[B] Or if I put the dominant, [Bbm] it really sounds [G] nice. _ _ _ _
Same thing I did [Bbm] before.
[G] Right. _ _
G dominant.
[E] _ When I'm walking up from E, on that F, I hit the [G] chromatic.
Right.
[Bbm] _ _ [G] _ Right.
Or I could say, [F] I could say, [G] _ right from my dominant, go down to the,
take the B [C] and the D down to A and [G] C. _ _
_ Right.
[Gm] And then, love to [G] praise.
_ _ _ I'm sorry. _ _ _
[Cm] _ _ _ _ [E] _ _ _
Okay.
[Eb] Right down to the minor, minor, still minor, minor.
Love [G] to praise.
[Eb] I love [Dm] to, there's your D minor again with alternate bass.
[G]
Praise.
[C] Then [D] his, is D, seventh with a flat ninth.
[G] _ _ _ Five chord.
_ [C] _
So sometimes C works when you're on those old soulful things like that.
Sometimes [Cm] the major works.
Sometimes the minor works.
[C] And you just have to feel [Cm] which one works.
All right.
That's pretty much the first part.
Then [E] he's my rock.
[G] He's my rock.
I'm sorry, to four.
[E] He's my [F] rock. _ _ _ _ _
