Hey, what's [N] up?
Marty Schwartz here, GuitarJams.com, bringing you another request.
This is Banana Pancakes by Jack Johnson.
So what I'm going to do is I'm going to teach it the Jack Johnson way and then I'll teach
you an alternate, like easy version with your regular open chords that people learn first.
So let's learn the line first, okay?
I'm going to take my ring finger and I'm going to slide from the fifth fret up to the seventh fret.
[B] [E] Then I'm going to take my first finger and I'm going to play it on the fifth fret of
the second string down, the A string.
[D] Then I'm going to hit the seventh [B] fret again on the E string once, [Em] then down a whole step
[A] with my ring finger.
So here's what we have.
Check it out again.
[D] [B] [A]
[F] My first finger is going to go down to the [G] third fret, [E] then open and [F#] you can either slide
into the fifth fret or just get your first finger to the fifth fret of the [A] E string.
Here it is.
[G] [A] [F]
Check it out again a little slower.
[D] [B] [A]
[G] [E] [A] [E]
Into an [Am] A minor 7 chord just once.
Okay, then the lick starts the same way, [D]
[A] [E] but [G] then just on the third fret we're going to play G7.
Alright?
[Am] Here it is [Bm] again.
[G] [A] [Am] [Bm]
[G] Okay, now when he comes in singing he does that [A] line a little different.
[D] [E]
So I did the same thing [Bm] here, but then I went [E] to the seventh fret on the A string,
[D] then
the fifth fret on the A string,
[C] seventh fret [B] with my ring finger on the low E string, open
[E] E,
[Bm] [Am]
that A minor again.
Second part's the [Bm] same.
[G] And then [E] he says, I think he says, [F] but maybe, and it's going to be a D7 chord right here
on the fifth fret.
[D]
[G] Okay, now let's talk about the bar chords.
Here they are.
It's the same thing over and over, and then when he goes to the chorus it's the A minor
and the G7 thing that we were basically just doing.
So here it is.
