seems pretty easy.
Okay, let's get a real easy song for a beginner [F#] but still a cool song, Sublime, What I Got.
Okay, here are the chords we need.
We need a D chord [D] and we need a [G] G chord.
[C] Two chords that you're going to see over and over and over when you're [G#] learning the guitar.
Okay, something about, there's a few different ways to voice a G chord.
[G#] When you're doing a D and a G thing, I like to play G with my pinky on the third fret
on this [A] last string here and my ring finger on the third fret on the next string up and
then those two like that.
And the reason for that is when you go to a D chord, that ring finger can stay so you
can use that as kind of like a little pivot finger that stays.
Now it's a little tricky at first to have the independence where that finger is staying
but in the long run, it'll really help out.
So one thing if you're just [D] learning, [G] back and forth, switch [D] those,
[G] over and over and [G] over.
Okay, good news [E] though with that Sublime song, it's [D#] just those two chords the whole time.
[D]
[G] [D]
[G] [Fm] I'm just kind [G#m] of doing my own rhythm there but I'm going to break it down for [D] you.
[F] So on the D chord, I just did down, down, down.
[C] Let's try that, three, [D] four.
[N]
[D]
[G]
And so on the G chord, I went down, down, up, up.
So here it [D] is.
[G]

Okay, now let's learn the [F] solo.
[Bm] [F#] [F#m]
[F#] [N]
We're going to take our ring finger and we're going to put it [A] on the 12th fret of the A string.
And [Dm] by the way, this outlines the D minor pentatonic [A] scale plus notes from what would
be called D Mixolydian, which is kind of a major-y kind of scale that you play over seven chords.
And if that doesn't make any sense, here's how you play it.
Don't worry about it.
Here we go.
12th fret, ring finger on the A string.
10th fret on the D string, the next string, 10th fret, and then 12th fret on that same string.
[C]
Then I'm going to take my first finger and cover the G string and the B string together
and play both of those notes at the same time.
[F]
[A] [C]
And then back to the 12th on this D string to 10 to 12 again, all on that string.
[F]
Here it is.
[D]
[F]
[D] Here's what we do for the next part.
We're going to play two notes at a time down the neck here.
So let's just follow our ring finger.
I'm going to put my ring finger on the 12th fret of the D string here.
[C] Then a whole step down to [C] the 10th, and then twice on [B] the 9th.
[F]
Then what we do is we're going to add our middle finger on the 11th fret at the same
[D] time that our ring finger's on the 12th fret.
Those two notes.
Exact same thing, down a whole step.
[C]
Then where my ring finger went down a half step, now my first finger's going to be on
the 7th fret of the G string.
We're going to hit this sort of double stop [Bm] twice.
Here's what we [A] have so far.
[F]
[D]
[Bm]
Next part.
Middle finger, this is where it kind of [F#] leaves the pentatonic and now it's kind of in a mixolydian
scale.
Middle finger on the 11th fret of the G string.
And then we're going to hammer on with our ring finger up to the 12th.
[F#m] [Gm]
So here's the whole run.
[Gm] [F#]
First finger on the 10th fret of the B string.
Then 12th fret with my ring finger on the B string.
[Gm] [Bm]
Then the 10th fret on the high E string with my first finger.
[F#m] [D]
[Gm]
[B] Then back to the [F#] 12th.
12th fret on the B string right there.
Then we're going to hit it again [Am] to the 10th fret on the B string.
[F#] Here it is.
[Bm]
[E] [F] Okay, here's what we have so far.
[D]
[Bm]
[G] [Bm]
[G]
Okay, let's learn the next part.
Pinky to the 13th fret on the B string.
[F#] Right there.
[F#m]
[F]
[F#]
[D] 12, 10, all on the B string.
[F] [E]
And then we're going to bend this G string with all [D#] three fingers.
[F#] [C]
Just kind of a [F] little bend thing there.
[F]
[D] [Bm]
[F#m]
[F#] [F]
