[F#] [E] Hey what's up you [N] guys?
Marty Schwartz here, GuitarJams.com. A lot of requests
for this tune so I'm gonna give it to you.
I've got a little list below this
box where I take my requests and also give you bonus lessons.
You can check it
out, a little link down there.
But we're gonna get to this lesson right now.
Here
we go.
A couple of tidbits to match up to the original recording, you're gonna have
to tune your guitar down a half step.
For this particular song I just left it in
normal tuning.
Most people have their guitars in standard tuning.
So you can
learn the tune and then if you want to match up to the original recording you
can tune your guitar down after the fact.
That'll be easier this way for this
lesson.
Okay so the first chord is an E5, also known as an E power chord.
Kurt
Cobain played it [E]
kind of with [N] one finger but the gist of it is you could play an
E [Em] minor chord.
That's kind of what's implied but to play an E5 or an E power
chord you can take your index finger and cover it.
I mean it's the easiest way
that I do it for me and I cover my index finger to mute that G string.
That way
[E] you get and it's not major or minor but it's right there.
You've got the open
strings too.
So you got this one and I'll work on a rhythm with you in a second
but where the song itself goes one two three one two three.
Then you're gonna
play an A chord.
Now you can play A major [A] or you can play an A power chord.
[E] So you
got one two three one two three [A] one two three.
So twice on the E, one count of
three on [E] the A.
[A] So [G]
[G#] then we're gonna go to a G power chord and basically you
know you got the regular G chord like that but the G power chord it's kind of
the AC DC way.
You got the ring finger and the pinky and then middle finger
here and it [C] mutes [G] the A string.
So you get a nice open G power chord.
[E] Okay so you got one two
three one two three [A] one two three [G] one two three [B] one two three one two [E] three
one two three [G#] and then it starts over and that's the whole progression.
So
there's one difficult bar chord in there and it's B major.
It looks like
[B] this.
So you know you've got barred on the second and I'm using the tip of my
finger on the root there and then you've got four four four and the high E is
basically muted.
If that's too difficult you can play a B power chord or get
