_ _ We're at the 5th fret _ _ or we have a finger on the 4th fret and one on the 5th fret and
we're playing _ a _ D9.
_ _ _ Now, I'm barring _ _ the 4th fret _ from the D string down but I really only need to grab hold of
that D string and then I'm going to bar everything else ahead of it.
I'm barring the G string, the B string and the high E [B] string _ with my middle finger at
the 5th fret and I'm aiming _ _ for these high [F#] strings. _
_ I'm not playing the A string or the E string so _ _ I want to get that [A#] nice bright _ [F#] tone _ _ _ like that. _ _ _ _
And that is [C] a D9.
What I'm going to do is add a note _ here at the 7th fret _ _ on the high E string and get
a _ D6 9.

_ _ _ _ [F#] So I [B] get that nice _ James Brown feel going with that [C] chord.
