I'm going to give you four chords that are a little bit [G] different than the one
[E] used on my previous video on this, so that we can have something that's more conducive
to the picking we're going to use.
[F] Okay, those four chords are B minor, [Bm] _ _ _ _ D, _ _ _ _ [D] _ _ _ _
F sharp [F#m] minor, _ _ _ _ _
and [E] E.
_ _ _ So that we can [F] get right to the lesson, I put together a chord tutorial featuring
these chords [G] so that you can learn the chords up close if you don't know them.
Okay, that's

Alright, first thing we're going to do is hold down our B minor chord, [Bm] which is here,

Okay, [C] now how do I do that?
Let's [G] get a close up
of the pick so you can see what's going [G#] on there.
_ Now what I did was I started with the
B and high E string going up and down.
[Bm] _ _ _ _ Then I go down to the D string and then come up
on the strings and then go back down _ to finish out my stroke.
So it's like this. _ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ _ So what
we did there [E] is went down on the G and B string, [Bm] _ back up, _ _ and down again, and then we go [C] up
to the D string and go [B] down _ _ [Em] and then up [Bm] again _ and down again _ on the G and B string.
[B] But
we're keeping it in our 16th note pattern so it's like that.
[Em] The 16th note pattern is
[G#] like that.
Now we've got to keep it tight.
We're emphasizing these three strings, okay?
[G#] _
Those three strings or _ the D, the G, and the B string.
We're not playing any other strings
and [Bm] we're _ vamping on that G and B string [G] like that, okay?
And then we occasionally go up here
to the D string.
Okay, here we go. _ _ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ Nice [N] little funky lick.
Now I'm doing some muting on my left
hand slightly, okay?
Basically I'm squeezing when I need a chord and then I raise up the hand or let
off the pressure to get a [D] mute.
So it's squeeze. _ _ _ _ _
So I squeeze [G#] when I make my strikes, okay, [Fm] with
my [G#] left hand. _
Alright, so [Bm] here we go. _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ [D] _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _ _ [F#m] _ _
_ _ _ _ _ _ [D] _ [E] _
_ _ _ _ _ _ Alright, that [D#] strumming pattern is _ [Bm] down, up, up, _ down,
down.
And when we go down, we [C] strike that D string and then back up [Bm] _ and down again on the G and the
[E] B string.
Let's speed it up a [Bm] little bit.
_ _ _ Now when you [D#] go faster, you may not strike that D string
perfectly but that's okay.
The idea is to kind of get the [C] impression that you're striking that string,
even if you miss it, it's okay.
