Johnny Cash - Cocaine Blues - Guitar Lesson (EASY VERSION WITH COUNTRY
STRUMMING PATTERN) chords

[Db]
[G] Alright, this is another guitar lesson for Johnny Cash's
Cocaine Blues.
Okay.
The other lesson was the picking pattern that you can hear in [Bb] the Full Supprision track
Well, there's also another way to play this song
Which a [A] lot of the other lessons on YouTube kind of talk about and you know what?
I'll talk about it and I'll show you how to play it.
I personally like the other way to play it with the individual [Fm] picking I
[D] Think it sounds more like [Bb] the original version.
But [N] anyways, let's say you play it
So the chords are the same we have C and G throughout the entire song, but the strumming pattern
I'll give you guys like a country [D] strumming pattern to use and this song sounds [Eb] great
If you don't feel super confident plucking the individual [D] the individual strings on this might work out better for you
so, all right, we know the song [Db] goes basically C and
[Eb] then G
Okay, and then back to
C and then we [Db] stop.
All right, and that's the whole chord [Abm] progression of the song
So it goes like [Db] this it goes and [Ab]
[Em] then stops and then goes right back into
[Db]
[Bb] Okay.
So [Db] what I want to show you right now is we know our C chord
[Ab] We know our G chord and I'm gonna show you this little country [G] picking pattern.
Okay, this country strumming pattern
I should say so let's make a C.
Let's pluck the bass [Db] note and we go
So pluck then we strum down up
all right, and then we move our
[Fm] Ring finger to the [Ab] third fret E string and we pluck that same
Pluck this as our bass string and [Db] then we go down down.
So we go
A string pluck down up E string pluck down up and on the E string remember our ring fingers on that third fret
So [G] we're alternating our ring finger between the A and the E string [Db] both of them.
Okay, so we're going
Alright, this sets us perfect up for a little walk up that you can hear in this song.
Okay, which goes
[Ab] All right, so we go third fret E string open [C] a middle finger on the second fret [Db] and then we have our ring finger on
The third fret which gives us that C.
So we go
[D] Alright, then we go to [Ab] G
So we make a G and we're going to pluck the E string down up on
These guys in the middle, all right, which is the I'm hitting basically your a
Your D and your G.
Okay.
I don't really play these guys [C] very much just because in the song
It doesn't sound like you're playing those notes.
[Ab] Okay, so
so
Pluck the E string down up pluck the A string down up pluck the E down up pluck the A down up.
So
All right, and then we do our little walk up
[N] We stop and then we go right back into the verse
Okay, and remember your walk up your walk ups and walk downs because he uses those throughout the entire song.
Okay, I'm just not really
Showing him to you in this video just yet.
Okay.
So how do you get to everything is with this walk up and walk down?
All right when we get to see like I showed you before we go
[Db] All right
so
And how we get to G as we go
[Bbm] You just go right back down that same walk up we just go reverse right [Ab] down it so we go
[Bb] Did the walk up then we [Bb] stop and then we do the walk up [Db] again
back to C
[Ab] [E] All right, so that should give you a little bit of [A] a different way to play this song
So and you can also hear a guitar in the background doing this type of strumming on the fulsome prison track
Okay, so it's almost like the rhythm guitar and the [C] other video I showed you was the lead [B] okay and
The last thing I want to show you is how this song ends [G] the song basically ends with C.
[Db] Okay, so we go
[Ab] Then [Gb] we go to F
Then we [Ab] go to G
Go back [Db] to C
All right, so we go
What the a string down up put the E string down up put the a string then we go right to [Ab] the E string on?
the third fret [Db] and then we strum through a C
so
[Fm] Not bad, I [Bb] hope you guys have enjoyed this lesson
in the spirit of Johnny [Cm] Cash guys, so please subscribe also [Bb] follow me on Twitter and

I got [A] tons of videos for you guys, especially subscribers
