Hey, what's up?
Marty Schwartz here.
A really good buddy of mine, a guitar student and friend who I teach, asked me to teach this song to him.
And I was thinking, I've seen other requests for it, so I was thinking of a way to play it with no bar chords.
Because the original version, you're going to need a lot of bar chords.
So just consider this the easy, strummer version of this tune.
So here are the chords that we're going to rock.
We're going to [E] play a C chord.
[B] We need a G chord.
[Abm] [B]
We need an A minor [Dbm] chord.
[A] We need an F chord, which you can play this way.
[C] If you can play it as a bar [A] chord, to get that low note in there, it's going to [A] sound better.
[B] And we need an E minor [Abm] chord.
[F] So here's what we're going to do.
I think the easiest thing to do is, I'm just going to talk about the verse first.
[E]
And 2 and 3 and 4 and we'll give you that driving pulse.
You could just 2, 3, [Am] 4, blam, 2.
You could do it that way too.
But I think we're going to go
[Ab] So we're going to start with a C.
Then we're going to go to G.
Then we're going to go to A minor.
Then we're going to go to F.
Check it out.
[E] [B]
[Db] [A]
[C] Just like that.
One more time.
C.
This time I'll play F this [E] way.
[B] [Db]
[Cm] Then it kind of starts the same way.
It does [E] C and G.
[B] But now E [Ab] minor to [Db] F.
[C] So basically one time it's A minor to F and the other time it's E minor to F.
Check it out.
[E] [B]
[Db] [Gbm]
[E] [B]
[Ab]
[A] [E]
[B] [Db]
[A] [E]
[B] [Abm]
[A] [N]
So we're building on an F [A] chord.
The next section is F again.
So you play F that way.
I'm going to play it that way.
And it goes like this.
[E] [Abm]
F to C.
F to [A] C.
[Db] [E]
[A]
[E]
One more [A] time.
[N] Sorry, no mullet.
But if you want to go full 11 at the end there, it would be
[A] [B]
[A] So it's G, C, G, E, F.
So check it out from the chorus.
What [E]
would it do right here?
[A]
[B] [E]
[A]
[Bbm] I'm just habit G to [B] C.
I usually play G that way, but check it out.
[E] [B] [A]
[B] [E]
[A] So the whole chorus one more time.
[E]
[E]
[A]
[E]
[A]
Here it comes.
[B] Here [E] it goes.
[B] [A] [E]
[Db] [A] It [F] goes on and on.
You get what I'm saying.
So let me show you a couple other little tricks with it.
So here's a cool bass line.
Open E and then 2-4 on the E [C] and then 2 on the A.
[E] [B]
[E]
[B] [Em] And then 4-6-4 [Db] on the A string.
[Gb] [B]
[Eb] [Db] 6-7 [B]-0 on the A string, which sounds like a phone number.
[Am]
[Eb] Then 6-7 again, [E]
open E.
Starts over.
[B]
Then 4-6 on the A, but then to the 4 on the E string.
[Ab]
[A]
Or the [Ab] open A string.
That's the A-2-5.
Here's what [E] it sounds like.
[B] [Db]
[Eb] [A] [E]
[B]
[Ab] [A]
[Bb] So, Adam, are you happy?
Are you satisfied?
And everyone else too?
Anyway, nice little easy thing [Em] for you.
And yeah, thanks for all the support guys.
