[Ab] Hi everyone, welcome back to Songs from Home.
I'm here with Angus the Wonder Dog.
White Kitty is taking a nap, yeah.
_ But she's well.
We're all well here and I hope you are as well.
I hope you guys [Eb] are doing great. _ _
That said, it's been a hard couple of days.
_ We lost one of the great country singers, Mr.
Joe Diffie.
He passed away a couple of days ago from complications from COVID-19.
_ All of our love goes to his family, our condolences.
[Bb] _ _ _ I had the great good fortune of being able to sing a song with him many years ago.
It was one of the thrills of my life.
[Eb] _
_ And also got word that Mr.
John Prine is in the hospital fighting his battle.
_ All of our thoughts and our love go out to him and his beautiful wife, Fiona, [Bb] and their family.
_ _ _ [C] _ John Prine is one of the heroes of my world.
_ _ When I heard his music, boy, it sure made me sit up straight and
made me more than ever want to be a songwriter.
_ And he's still writing the greatest songs.
So I'd like to believe he's got a lot more to write.
So John, _ sending you all best wishes.
_ _ [E] _
_ _ [B] [E] This [Bb] is a song that there were a lot of requests for as well in the last few
rounds of posts and comments and _ [Eb] haven't played it for quite some time.
So I may be a little rusty and Angus is lying down on my feet.
So maybe I need to move away.
But _ this is a song that I just feel definitely speaks to the times that we're in and
our need to not leave each other behind, to stay together, _ _ to allow ourselves to be known and seen by one another.
_ [E] _
_ _ [B] _ [E] It's [Eb] called _ [E] _
_ _ Jubilee.
_ [A] _ _ [E] _
_ _ [B] _ _ [E] _ _ _ _
_ [B] _ [E] I can tell [A] by the way [E] you're walking, _ [A] that you don't [E] want [B] company.
_ _ [E] Well, I'll let [A] you go [E] and I'll let you walk on.
And you're going to the time [B] you need.
_ _ [A] Back [E] where the sun is behind you, _ [A] under [E] the wise [B] wishing tree.
And [E] with all of [A] the maple [E] by under the shade, [A] _ [E] call it a [B]
jubilee.
_ [E] And I can [A] tell by the way [E] you're talking, _ [A] that the [E] past isn't letting [B] you go.
_ [E] There's [A] only so long, [E] it can take it all on.
[A] And the [E] wrong's gotta be on [B] its own.
And when [A] you're ready [E] to leave, to be [Dbm] behind you, [E] _ [A] look [E] back and all that you [B] see,
_ is the [E] [A] package and dust [E] that you left in the dust [A] on your [E] [B] way to the _ [E]
jubilee.
_ [B] _ [E] _ _ [A] _ _ [E] _
_ _ _ [A] _ _ [E] _ _ [B] _
_ And [E] I can tell [A] by the [E] way you're listening, _ that [A] you're still [E] expecting [B] to hear.
_ [E] You may be [A] a call, [E] but there's someone to all, who [A] will fail [E] to account for [B] their doubts and their fears.
They [A] can't have [E] up to much without you.
[A] So if it [E] were just up [B] to me, I'd [E] take hold [A] of your hand, [E] say come here then,
[A] play this song [B] at the [E] jubilee.
_ _ [Abm] _ [A] _ _ [E] _ _ _
_ _ [A] And _ [E] _ _ [B] _
_ _ [E] I can tell [A] by the way you're [E] speaking, _ _ [A] there's something [E] that can't even [B] be named.
_ _ [E] And I [A] can tell by the way [E] you're talking, _ [A] that you're still expecting to hear.
So if it [E] were just up to me, I'd take hold of your hand, [B] _
_ say come here then, [A] play this _ [E] _ _ [Dbm] _
_ [E] _ _ [A] _ _ [E] _ [B] song at the jubilee.
_ [E] And I can tell [A] by [E] the way you're [A] speaking, there's [B] something [E] that can't even be named.
_ _ And _ _ [A] _
_ [E] _ _ [A] _ _ [E] _ _ [B] _
_ I [E] can tell [A] by the way [E] you're standing, _ that [A] your life [E] still [B] appears.
_ _ [E] But it's hard and [A] long, [E] as you're turning on, [A] even though [E] your home is [B] right here.
There [A] are people [E] who love you on earth, _ _ [A] wonder [E] why you [B] seem to be.
_ [E] Maybe you'll [A] be set [E] back straight on to earth, [A] bound [E] into the Jews [B] and Jews.
_ [A] Because the people [E] who love [Dbm] you are waiting, [E] _ [A] and they're waiting [E] just as long [B] as you be.
_ _ _ And [E] we come back and [A] say, [E] those were hallowed sin [A] days, and [E] talk [B] about _ [E] jubilee. _ _ _ _
_ _ [A] _ _ [E] _ _ [A] _ [E] _
_ _ [B] _ _ _ [E] _ _ _
[A] _ [E] _ _ _ _ _ [A] _ _
