Randy Backman here again and the two songs that get asked the most by
different guitar players to show them how to play are the chords are looking
up for number one which you've already done and She's Come Undone which I wrote
for the Guess Who.
My main inspiration for these chords or these songs how I
wrote them was from the Mickey Baker jazz guitar book at number two it's
black and yellow you can google it find it on eBay it shows substitute chords so
instead of just doing a [G] blues thing like this [C] [D] boring [G] right it goes
[Em] [A#] [C] [G] that [Am] [Bm]
[A#m] [Am] kind of stuff and so that shows you all the substitutions in there and I
used that book and I wrote a song called She's Come Undone.
We're also going to
put the diagrams of the chords up so you can snapshot your screen so you can get
these diagrams.
I learned to play by ear and by visual with a guy named Lenny
Bro who's a great guitar player and I didn't know what I was playing what it
was called so I don't know names a lot of these chords and it doesn't bother
me that I don't know them except for this right now I'd like to tell you what
they are I'll tell you the ones I know what [Em] they are.
I found out over the years
so this She's Come Undone E minor [C] my first chord is the C on the eighth fret
and again I use my thumb can't play this with bar chords use my thumb and
it's called a C with a flat fifth so it's there's your fifth note and there's
your flat fifth and [B] you slide it down to a B so there's a way that you can call it a
B chord move everything [E] up except your first finger on the seventh fret and I
got there from El Aguina [F]
[E] I [A] just set it [B] up high so [C] it's [F#m] [C] very Spanish but it's
[Bm]
[C] too late [B] she's gone [Am] too far [B] she's lost the sun she's come [Em] undone E minor [A] seventh
[G] A G F [F#m] minor seventh and these are the inversions that Mickey Baker plays [B] B
[F#m] minor seventh [Am]
[C] now that's an A minor seventh which is like [Am] it's much easier
to do that for [G] me and then [C] G C9 [F#m] B9 [Em] she's come [A] undone [G] she found a mountain that [F#m] was
instead of that [G#] the [F#m] second time through do it high F sharp minor seventh [B] B [F#m] F
sharp [Am] minor seventh A minor seventh [G] G major seventh
[F#] too [B] [C] late [F] she's gone [C] too far [B] she's lost the sun I'm real slow [Em] she's come [A] undone
[G] she didn't [F#m] know what she was headed for [B] when I [F#m] found what she was headed [Am] for
[Em] it was [C] too late [G]
[B] [Em] she's come undone [A] [G] she found [Em] a mountain that [A] was far [B] too high
when she [F#m] found out she [Am] couldn't fly [G] it was too late
[F#] [G#]
[C] [G#] she's gone [C] too far she's [B] lost [E] she's come undone
[C] [Em] so that's an E minor and I just extra play the B [E] keep the E [C] minor C C [C#m] sharp
[C] [E] [C]
[C#m] [C] [E]
[C] [C#m] [C] [E]
[A] [Em] [A]
[E] [C] [C#m] [C]
[Am] [G#m] [C] [G#] [C] [B]
[Em] [A] [G] [C] [E] [A] [B]
[F#m] [Am] [G] [F#m]
[G#m] [Am] [C] [Am] [G] [C]
