Our first band [G] this week, Reckless Kelly, was on the [C] set of our pilot episode back in [G] 2009,
and they've [C] been considered family ever since.
[Bb] You know, the band [Gm] turned 21 in [C] 2017, and they continue to raise the standards of [Bb] Americana,
alt-country, and Ruth Rock.
[C] Here's the story and [G] the performance of a [C] tune off of Sunset Motel called
How [G] Can You Love Him If You [C] Don't Even Like Him?
Uh, How [Gm] Can You Love Him If You Don't [C] Even Like Him?
It's, uh, just a line I [Bb] came up with, uh, after seeing, [C] you know, a few different people that I know
[Gm] that were hanging out with somebody that [Dm] kind of tell that, it's like,
what are [C] you doing with this guy?
You don't even really like the guy, you [Bb] know?
[G] So the line came about from just seeing [D] that kind of a [C] thing, and, you know, it kind of wrote itself.
It was a really, [G] really easy song to write.
It's real short and simple [Dm] and only a couple verses, so it [C] just kind of fell together real easily.
[Gm] It's not really based on any, you know, one [Dm] situation.
It's just kind of this broad [G]-stroke thing of something that I've seen a lot over the years.
It's just [C] two people that really don't like each other but just [G] somehow [C] decide to stay together.
[Bb] Um, a lot of times when I have [C] a line, I'll just, it'll kind of [Bb] immediately lend itself to either being a slow [C] song or a rocker.
And sometimes you could go either way with it, and this one seemed like it would be kind of a [D] nice up-tempo [Am] thing.
And so I'll just grab a [G] guitar and start banging [C] around with chords and sing a line in my head,
and if I've got more than [G] one line, just kind of trying to [C] let it piece itself together.
I hardly [E] ever write a [G] melody and then add lyrics to it or write lyrics and then add the melody.
It's almost always done at the same time.

How can you love him if you don't even like him?
You call him your lover [G] and even your best [D] friend.
Lifting the wings while he's waiting [G] for the curtain [D] to fall.
[Bm] How you gonna love him [G] if you don't even like [D] him at all?
[A] For what it's worth, [G] I hope you don't [D] work foul.
[Bm] You know when to find him, when [Gbm] he finally lets [A] you down.
[D] How can you love him [G] if you don't even like [D] him?
You call him your lover [G] and even your best [D] friend.
Lifting the wings [G] while he's waiting for the curtain [D] to fall.
Tell [Bm] me how you gonna love him if you [G] don't even like [D] him at all.

[A] When he comes around you [G] wear a [D] plastic smile.
[Bm] Maybe you got it fooled, but I [Gbm] can see it from a [A] mile.
[D] How can you love him if you don't even like him?
[G] [D] You call him your lover [G] and even your best [D] friend.
Lifting the wings [G] while he's waiting for the curtain [D] to fall.
[B] How you gonna love him [G] if you don't even like him [D] at all?
