[A] [F#m] [D] [Em] [E]
[D] [C] [A] [Em] [E] So this is my signature model Fender and
the guitar that I play is the same guitar that comes off the rack.
It's made in Japan and
As far as some of the things that make it unique I would point out the fret size.
We've got the larger frets
maple neck and the radius is actually larger than the typical telecaster and
The wood is
Specific to the guitar on the back.
It's a swamp ash and the top is a flame maple and
one of the other things I did to the guitar was add the comfort cuts right here and
Here as well.
It makes it a little more comfortable to play and
The only thing that I do when I get these guitars to change them.
I sand the finish off the neck
I add this drop D tuner and
Recently I found this little thing called an end tune and it's a little white disc that lives under the volume knob and
When you turn it on it [N] mutes the output and it functions as a tuner and it's a great thing to have
You know backstage or in the middle of a song or whatever you can check your tuning
The toggle switch actually turns it on and off
that's something that I actually did after the fact because I wasn't satisfied with the
Performance of the actual toggle switch that came with the unit
so I added this little switch for it and
the pickups are
Demar's you got the
twang King in the neck position and in the bridge position
It's a chopper T and one other thing unique to the guitar is this middle position?
This is not a tone knob it is a serious parallel switch and so in this position you get the standard
[E] Telecaster and [B] then when you turn it [E] [B]
a
little more of a mid-range boost a little louder and
A cool sound for certain kinds of soloing and that's pretty much it.
That's my signature [D] model
[G]
[C#m] [C] [N]
I
Wanted the flying V really and somehow I ended up with this
But it seemed to work so
No, honestly
Actually, you know this guitar is based off of the first guitar.
They made me
And and then I just altered it from there and and they had given me a great tobacco
Sunburst flame top
Telecaster and that became my main guitar like in 1991 and
a few years later I
Had a record come out my manager at the time approached him about doing an ad campaign
To help promote the record and they said that for the year their ad
Quota was reached and it wasn't possible, but they offered a signature model guitar in Japan
which at the time was a strong market for me and
And we kind of built a guitar off of that initial one that they made, you know the first one that they
Yeah, but I was specific from the custom shop
When when they said what do you want in a guitar and I went down I try stuff
I like that.
I don't like that.
I like this.
I want that wood.
I don't like that, you know
It came from me having a conversation, yeah
No, it's because I'm kind of built like a an ape and I have kind of like short legs
but a long torso and long arms and big hands and so
Just I just want to pick up a guitar and feel like I really got something in my hands
And so just kind of came out of [E] what's comfortable for me, you know
Is the is the flame maple [N] top is that for just for looks or is that because of the the sound also
Initially when I I mean many many years ago it was for light
But
When I tried out different guitars and I learned about wood
I learned that the guitars that I liked were this combination of wood like the the swamp ash with with this flame top
They're the ones that just sounded great to me.
And so I wanted my guitar to have that combination
Well, since you got it, would you mind kind of given our listeners a demo of both the different [D] pickups?
[E] [G#]
[D] [E] [A] [E]
So That's the
the neck position
I'm not the neck position.
That's the bridge position.
Sorry confused and then you've got the
[G] [D] [E] [A]
[E] [A] [C#m] [E]
[E] [Am] that's the
[N] the twang King in the neck [E] position and the other thing I was talking about was this whole thing with the middle position where you have
[C#m] That's the standard telly [E] sound in the in the middle [A] position
[E] [A] [C#m]
[E] And then when you turn the the switch for the tone knob you have the mid-range more aggressive
[G] [D] [Em]
[Bm] [E]
[D] [G] [Am] [G]
[D] [E] [D] [E]
[N]
