[C#m] The song Running to You was written [E] in the middle of the night one night and I was up
really late and just overwhelmed by the circumstances of my life.
And I was remembering this biblical principle that King David does a lot.
He recounts the greatness of God [C#m] and the great wonders that he's done.
[E] I was singing the [C#m] first worship song in the Bible, which is a song that Moses writes after
they cross the Red Sea.
I was just writing these words about how God [A] makes the way for us and how God [E] fulfills
his promises and all that we have left is basically to run [C#m] to him and to surrender to
him [B] and give everything to him and [C#m] then God can break through and can make the way.
[E] [C#m]
The next day I was leading worship in the congregation and I [E] sang the song.
Just thinking it's a personal [C#m] song, I didn't think much of it.
But as I was [E] leading the song, I just watched people being impacted on their face and crying
and I realized in this moment that [F#m] the little things [E] that we do, our encounters, our moments
with [A] God [E] can really be a blessing to other [B] people.
So [G#m] when it came to [C#m] producing the song and putting [A] it on the [C#m] album, I really felt that
it [A] expressed that [C#m] personal [A] moment with God, that desire to say, [E] here I am [B] and I'm surrendering
to [C#m] your work in my life and through whatever is going on.
Sometimes the difficulties in our life are really opportunities.
They're moments where God can break through and can [E] show you that he's faithful, [B] can show
you that his [C#m] provision and his blessing is coming to your rescue.
So many people came up to me afterwards saying, this really spoke to me, this is really [E] what
I'm feeling and I thought, okay, there's something here.
As we sang [A] the song over different worship night events and [E] things like that, the final
[C#m] line in the song was added, which is from the New Testament where Paul says, I'm running
towards the goal [E] and the goal is [B] to know you, God more.
