Start Jamming...
One of the things people always ask me is, how do I get interest out of a very boring song?
Singing in the rain only has about two chords in it.
It's the F chord and the C7 chord with
a passing of a diminished chord.
What I tend to do is I know what the inversions are and what
other chords cover.
I'm going to show you one little trick for covering the F and then I will
show you another trick for covering a C7.
You can use this in just about any song that's written in
F.
But what I do is I will play the F like this where I have my first finger behind the first
fret on the second string, second finger behind the second fret on the fourth string, and my
third finger is behind the third fret on the first string.
It's getting that high C.
[F] And what I will
do is I will play F, then I will [Dm] fold my second finger down so I'm barring two strings.
That's an
F6.
[G] And then I will take my pinky and I will put it behind the fourth fret on the third [C] string to
get that F7.
So what you have going for you [F] is
[Eb] Now on the [C] C7, rather than just playing C7 all
the time, [N]
I will alternate between say two beats of C and then two beats of C7 and then two beats
of [Ab] Gm7.
So that would go like this.
[Gm]
[C] [F] I'm [D] singing in the rain, just singing in the rain.
What a [C] glorious feeling, [D] I'm happy again.
I'm laughing at clouds so dark up above.
I'm
whatever.
And [F] I'm ready to go.
[Dm]
And [G] there's also other inversions of those chords up and down the neck, which will be
