[F#m] So, [C#] good readers of guitarists, this is it, this is the Beast.
Contrary to some of the recent forums, I still own this guitar and [F#] have done since 1974 when
a guy produced it at a gig at the Marquis and tuned it [G#] up and said use it for the encore.
I already had said I can't afford it, but he tuned it up for me, I plugged it in and
it was stupendous and as I came off the stage I said how much did you want for it?
And he wanted the princely sum of about £600 for it, which I could not afford.
And so we did a deal, I'm not going to say what we did a deal for.
But I lost a couple of guitars which seemed a lot to me at the time, but I think with
hindsight I probably [G] did the best.
[F#m] [E]
The
[A]
[N] first time I used this professionally was with Wild Turkey and then the first time
I used it on TV was with Cozy Pal.
This can be seen in the Whitesnake videos and every song on the Whitesnake albums is
this guitar if it's me playing.
And I wrote Here I Go Again on this guitar.
So it's been pretty integral to my career [E] really.

What can I say about this thing except it is what it is.
In Joe Bonamassa's very words, that thing is sick.
[G] He played it at Hammersmith in 2011.
It was the first time I'd ever heard it played in concert.
And it was a weird thing, it was a bit like seeing your grown up child singing at a gig really.
And I realised then why people have been saying to me for years, that's a great guitar because
it does sound great.
In the right guy's hands.
This is the one that Gary Moore said, can I borrow that?
And I loaned him an SG for a long time when he was in Coliseum.
And he said, any chance of using that one?
And I went, no, but I do like to try.
It's got some history, a lot of people have played this guitar.
Jeff Beck has played this guitar a lot better than I do.
He played Scatterbrain on this guitar in a dressing room in Purley.
What a memory I have.
You don't forget things like that.
Steve Lukather's played this guitar and a lot of other people.
It's pretty much been part of my career.
Go back to 74 and then go back up to 15 years ago.
It was pretty much omnipresent, I think that's the word, isn't it?
Something like that.
Want to hear it?
Yeah.
