Hi everybody, we're going to do a little reggae, yuca reggae, and we're going to use the song
Three Little Birds, very simple.
I'm going to show it to you in the key of C and then I'll show it to you in two other
keys in case C's not a good singing key for you.
Let me play it for you in [G#] C and then we'll talk about the strum and then we'll show you
the other keys as [C] well.
Okay, woke up this morning, ain't gonna get [G] no rest.
The light of [C] the moon, [F] I'm just
[C]
[D#] feeling these pills.
[G]
[F] [C]
Don't worry about a thing, [F] every little thing's gonna be [C] alright.
[F]
[C]
Okay, so first of all, here's the chords.
Woke up this morning, C, waking with the [G] rising sun, G.
Three little [C]
seabirds [F] on my F doorstep, [C] singing C sweet songs, [G]
melodies pure and true, G.
[F] F is the [C] message to you, the chorus is don't C, about a thing, [F] F every little thing's [C] gonna be alright.
What about a C?
Okay, and then repeats [N] that.
So let's talk about the reggae strum.
[C]
One, two, three, four.
So [B] what am I doing?
Well on the one and the three, one, [F#] two, three, four, one, two, three, four, there's kind
of a space, [C] a rest.
One, two, [Am] three, one, two, three.
Now you can pat the strings like this, slap them, stop them from vibrating.
One, three.
You can just ignore them.
One, two, three.
But that hole on the three really makes the reggae sound like reggae.
You can do it with your thumb, finger.
What I like to do is fingers, up, one, so one, two, three, one, slap.
Okay,
[G]
[C]
[F]
so that's it in the key of C.
In the key of [G] G, it would be, G woke up this morning, D7, G, [F#]
[G] [D]
[C]
[F#]
etc.,
[C]
[D] etc.
Okay, and the chorus [G] would be, don't worry about a thing, [C] C, every little thing's gonna
be to [G] G.
So the chorus is G and C.
And then there's a lot of easy keys, but the other nice [D] easy one on the uke is the key
of [G]
[D]
D, which is these three in a row, second, third, and fourth.
You have the D, then [A] A.
If you don't know these chords, you go, steady [D] up, [G] and then the G.
[D] G, don't worry, about a thing, G, [G] every little thing's gonna [D] be alright.
Alright, so that's the chorus, and the verse is, woke up this morning, [A] A, rising sun, G,
[G] G,
[D]
A, and then to A.
[G] [D]
Okay, so that's your basic [B] reggae, you know, no crying, [C] [Gm]
[C] [F]
[G] fast, slow.
Good all-purpose.
