Hello Kulon underground, this is Eldrine Guerrero and welcome to another episode of Uke Minutes.
[Dm] Hello guys, I've been getting a lot of emails on how to play flamenco music.
So I'm going to be teaching you a bunch of flamenco techniques.
We're going to start off with this one called flamenco finger picking number one.
[A] [C] So to start things off, you're going to be using your thumb, pointer and middle finger for this one.
Our thumb is going to be designated to the top three strings.
And our two fingers are going to be designated to our lone A string.
So let's start off with our two fingers, our pointer and our middle.
We're going to play the bottom string, pointer, middle, pointer, middle, pointer, middle, [A] pointer, middle.
So just alternate between the two, pointer, middle, pointer, middle, pointer, middle, pointer, middle.
So there's really no right or wrong way to do this.
You can either start off with your pointer or your middle finger, whichever one feels more comfortable.
Meanwhile, with your thumb, you're going to be playing the string C, E, G, C, E, G, C, E, G.
[C] So it's going to go C, E, G, C, E, G, C, E, G.
So now let's put these two things together.
So it's going to sound like C, A, A, E, A, A, G, A, A, C, A, A, E, A, A, G, A, A.
Here we go.
[Am] C, A, A, E, A, A, G, A, A, C, A, A, E, A, A, G, A, A.
So start out slow and then eventually get faster.
Now try out that fingerpicking pattern with a chord.
For example, [Dm] D minor.
You can even use your pinky finger to anchor down on your soundboard while you do this.
[B] Alrighty folks, that was flamenco fingerpicking number one.
And as I said, you can start out slow and then gradually get faster.
This is going to be a little tough at first, but eventually you'll get used to it.
