Welcome back folks.
Uncle Lucius [A] out of Austin are an [D] eclectic outfit that lean on solid [A] grooves, great guitar riffs [E] and thoughtful lyrics.
You might say it's Texas soul [D] for the thinking man.
[A] Well, here's their live [E] rendition of Don't Own The Right off their album The Light.
[G] Don't Own The Right, [A] Mike and I wrote that tune.
[E] I guess you wrote all the music for it.
Yeah, Hal was there too [D] actually, so it still kind of goes, [A] yeah.
Well, there you go.
That was actually a song [E] that one of my [B] previous bands, it was like [G] some music that was left over [A] and actually the bridge I kind of [E] stole from the song before that.
It never went anywhere, so it didn't really matter, but and then I just kind of showed it to these [D] guys and it just kind of happened like that.
You know, he started writing some [A] lyrics and so did Hal and I wrote, I [E] actually got one line in it.
Yeah, and I think we wrote that, I began writing that about six years ago, right?
[D] Something like that.
Yeah, it's real long.
[A] And we thought it was too simple.
[D] I guess what sold it for me [A] was I rewrote [E] the second verse.
The second verse was never strong to me, [D] but it [A] finally came to me.
I'm [E] very proud of it and it feels good and this is a very [G] simple song, but it says it straight to [A] the point.
It's [E] everybody does right or wrong.
You're going to be on both sides of the line [D] at one point and it's, [A] we don't own the right to judge [E] somebody else or be so hard on ourselves, you know.
That's [G] what it's about.
Don't own the right.
