Hey folks, let's check out Lady Cab Driver.
[Bm] [Em]
[Bm] [G] [C] OK, so we're just looking at the basic rhythm [Bm] today and that's a B minor 7.
So I'm playing 14, 16, 14, 15, 14 starting on the A string.
[Em] And that same shape down at the 7th.
And I'm starting by just sliding into that note from a semitone [Bbm] below.
[Bm]
I'm re-picking.
[Bm]
[Db] Then going back down a [B] semitone and back up.
[D] [G] [Bm]
[Em] And then going down to 7th and playing 3 [Bm] on the E minor 7.
Back up, same again.
[Em] And then
It's [B] all together.
[Bm] [Em]
[Bm]
OK, and that's the basic rhythm and we get variations on that.
Sometimes he plays the B minor 7 down at the 7th position.
[Em] [Bm]
[Em] So [N] you can do that too.
And there's a little muted part in there with a little power chord later [B] on.
So we get [Abm] some playing around [Bm] on the
[C] little [B] B, A, B.
And then the little chromatic A, A sharp, B.
[Bb]
[B] [N] So you'll hear that in too.
And we also get a little breakdown later on where he stays on the [Bm] B minor 7.
That kind of style.
[Dm] So it's a great one just to practice your funk playing.
Really great rhythms in there.
Really fun one to play.
Oh, we can also throw in the little lick.
[Bm]
[N] So what I'm playing there is just the second time we go to the E minor 7.
It's played on the keyboard but it's fun just to learn it and throw it in.
[Gb] I'm playing an F sharp on the [A] 7th.
A [G] on the 10th.
G on the
[Bm] 8th.
Back to F sharp.
And finishing on a D.
[Bb] [Bm]
And I'm playing that while keeping the rest of the chord to keep it funky.
Or I could just play it as a muted.
[N] Any way you want to funk it up, it's cool.
It's just great to use these little songs to practice your funk playing.
So that's Lady Cab Driver.
Later we'll take a look at the solo and enjoy playing.
Thank you very much.
