[F#] [G#] Hey, what's up you guys?
Marty Schwartz here.
I'm going to bring you a classic riff.
Think of my middle school days, hearing this rocking out all over the place.
Anyway, we'll break it down, zoom in, show you all the stuff.
Real quick though, I really appreciate you subscribing to this YouTube channel of mine.
Got tons of cool stuff planned for you, and I appreciate you taking that step with me,
so thank you.
That's it though.
Let's zoom in, break this riff down.
Here we go.
All right, let's rock it out.
We're going to start with power chord, an F sharp power chord, which would be the second
fret of the E and the fourth fret of the [F#] A.
[G#m] Like that.
Then we move it up to the root on the fifth fret, so it's an A [A] power chord.
Then we play an E power chord, which has index finger on the second fret of the A and the
open [E] E.
Then back to [F#] the top.
Let's check it out.
[A] [E] [F#] [Em]
[D] [E] Then I'm playing D, D, E, E, and so now I'm root on the A string, so fifth fret on the
A, seventh on the [Dm] D, [A]
and [E] then up a whole step to seven on the A and nine on the D.
Those are the chords underlying the opening [F#] riff.
F [A] sharp, A, A, [E] E, E, [F#] F sharp, I, I, [D] I, [E] [F#]
[C] and [A] [E] [F#]
[D] then D, E.
[E] [F#m]
[B] [A] [E] [F#m]
[E] [F#]
[E] I remember I taught this a little bit wrong.
Many, many years ago, I made YouTube videos and I was just playing them from my memory.
I didn't realize that a lot of people were going to be watching them.
So now I've made this a little more accurate.
So we start with two notes on the second fret of the E, which is [F#] F sharp.
Then we go to the fourth of the A and back to the two on the E.
[C#]
[F#] [C] So then I use my pinky on the fifth of the A, [D]
then back to [F#] the second fret of the E.
So two, [C#] two, [F#] four, [D] two, [F#] five, [Bm] two.
[F#] [C#]
[F#] [D] [F#]
[D] [C#] [F#]
Then I go back to the four of the A and then the two of the E.
So [C#]
[F#] like [A#] [D] [F#]
[Gm] [C#] [F#]
that.
[D] [F#]
[D] [F#] [F]
[F#] [D] [F#]
[B] [A] [G#]
[A] [B] So the next little move is two on the A and then five on the E.
[A] Four on the [G#] E, back to five on [A] the E.
[Bm] [A]
[G#] [A] [F#] Put that all together and you get this.
[C#m] [F#]
[D] [F#] [C#] [F#]
[Bm] [A] [G#]
[A] [F#]
[G#] [A] [Bm] [A]
[G#] [E] [B] And then the next phrase is very similar.
Two on the A, [A] five on the E, four on the [G#] E, then [E] open E.
[B] [A] So [G#] [E] the first one [Bm] of those [A] is [G#] [A]
[Bm] then [G#] [E] and
[F#] there you have it.
[C#] [F#]
[D] [F#] [C#m] [F#] [Bm]
[A] [G#] [A] [B]
[A] [G#] [E] [F#]
[D] [F#m] [G#] [A] [G#]
[E] [F#] [B] [A]
[E] [F#] [B]
[A] [E] [F#]
[D] [E] [A]
[F#] [A]
[E] [F#] [Em]
[F#] [C] [A]
[E] [F#] [E] [Dm]
[Em] [F#] [D] [B]
[A] [E] [F#m]
[G#] [F#]
[A] [E] [F#]
[Dm] [E] [F#]
One more time, super slow.
[C#] [F#] [D] [F#]
[F] [F#]
[D] [F#] [C#] [F#] [Fm]
[B] [A] [G#] [A] [B] [A]
[G#] [E] [F#]
Alright, there was the lesson.

[F#] [C#]
[F#] [D] [F#]
[D] [C#] [F#]
Then I go back to the four of the A and then the two of the E.
So [C#]
[F#] like [A#] [D] [F#]
[Gm] [C#] [F#]
that.
[D] [F#]
[D] [F#] [F]
[F#] [D] [F#]
[B] [A] [G#]
[A] [B] So the next little move is two on the A and then five on the E.
[A] Four on the [G#] E, back to five on [A] the E.
[Bm] [A]
[G#] [A] [F#] Put that all together and you get this.
[C#m] [F#]
[D] [F#] [C#] [F#]

[Em] [F#] [D] [B]
[A] [E] [F#m]
[G#] [F#]
