To take you to my video on how to play long train running
So let's get started
We're going to be up at the 10th fret right here
We're going to bar it just like that with the first finger, and we're going to have to go to
the second
[F] Finger and place it on the B string at the 11th fret like that
then we're going to take the ring finger, and we're going to place it on the D string at the 12th fret and
[Gm] That's going to give [Ab] us a G minor 7 chord
[Bb] We'll need to be able to hammer on that chord [G] like this
[Gm] Right this is our chord, and we're going to have to [G] hammer it
Like that okay now you're going to have to go back to the
Finger that you played at the 10th fret [F] and hold it down
Now that chord is a [G] G7
Suspended 4 it's a G7 sus4 at the 10th fret and the strings that we're using are these
[G] That's the chord we're looking for now when we bang on it.
That's the fundamental that we're here
Even if you're playing [Gb] these other strings or even if you have these you want to butt up against that E string and mute it
there for [G] that so
Like that that's the chord you're looking for
G7 sus4
Now that's at the 10th fret now what we're going to need to do is
Move down to the 8th fret and play a chord like this
[Cm]
Now that is a C minor [C] 7 now.
I'm barring the 8th fret
[Gb] and I'm going to come into the a string with my ring finger at the [C] 10th fret and
[Cm] Then my pinky is going to be on the 11th fret on the B string
that's
C minor 7
Just like that
Now the next chord is going to be a C minor 6
We're at the 8th fret [N] here and up at the 11th fret.
We're going to take that pinky and move it back
To the 10th fret now what we have now is
8
10
8 8
10 8 [Cm] and that is C minor 6
So you're going to have to be able to do [Eb] this
[Cm]
Just like that
All right, that was C minor 7
down to C minor 6
[Em] Our next chord is going to be down at fret 6.
This is fret 6 and
We're here at fret 8 with two fingers.
This is an E flat
7 [Eb] chord and
Our focus [N] is on the a string down to the B string.
We're barring the 6th fret here and
Then we bring in our ring finger to the 8th fret on the D string and then bring in your pinky
to the 8th fret on the B string and that's
[Eb] E flat 7
Okay
Now for your next chord, you're gonna [G] have to move that whole [Eb] thing down.
Just [N] slide it down.
Okay, and
Then bring this finger back up to [A] here
And this is [Em] the fifth fret we're barring the fifth fret
We're coming in to the seventh fret with the ring finger on the D string
And then we're coming in to the B string [Ebm] at the eighth fret with the pinky [A] and we have this
That's a d7 suspended for
7
4
[D] Now we're gonna move that [A] down
[E] to [D] d7
Like that now all we [F] did was took the pinky from [Gb] fret 8 [E] down
[B] to fret 7 so that we get this
[D]
Just like that.
That's [C] d7 suspended [A] for
down to [D] d7
All [N] right
Now the next chord is going to be a g minor 7
Now for g minor 7 we're gonna have to move [Eb] down to [E] the third [Ebm] fret [F] see we're down here third fret
[Gm]
[Bb] Now what we're [F] gonna do is bar the third fret from the D string down bring our thumb over the top
This is kind of a necessary move.
I know folks don't like to use that thumb, but I tell you what we're gonna need
[Gm] Because what's gonna happen in that record is that we're gonna use this and [Bb] then we're gonna go to a C chord
[C] Which is going to be made by doing that [G] so we've got to do this
[C] And this is toward the end of the [Em] record so it's gonna be like this
[A]
[C] And our C is simply at the fifth fret and we're using that ring finger to [G] bring that in so we've got a g minor [Gm] 7
to a [C] C
Like that and we're holding it the [Gm] same time
[C] [G]
[C] [A] [C]
And believe it or not
Those are all the chords that we're going to be needing to play a famous Doobie Brothers tune
