[E] Hey guys, welcome back to another lesson.
Today we have a really cool drive for you.
Very simple.
It's going to be a short lesson but it's guaranteed to get you driving.
Alright, so we're in the key of E.
And so this riff is very simple.
You heard it in the [A] intro.
[E]
Alright, so let me break down what I'm doing.
So we're pretty much hovering over the 1 but the lick starts with the A.
So we're going
to play an A [G] to a G.
[A] But you know, of course we just can't play that chord.
We got to put a little flair to it.
So we're going to play the bottom, or the top 3 strings.
[Em] [E] And so we're hammering on that E string from the A to B.
[Em] [E] And now we're going to go to E [D] to [B] D.
So we're just going to play those 3rds.
[D] [A] [E]
[D] [D]
And so now we're starting to play with that pentatonic or that blues scale.
[E]
[A] [E] [Gb]
And now we're going to do that.
[E] [A]
So there, I like to think of that as that
[E] flat 7.
Or just that D, [Bb] A, and then E.
[B] But there, I'm kind of playing like [A]
a
So [A] there's an Asus4.
Resolver down.
[E] So if I put that all together
[Ab]
[D] [E]
[E] And a lot of times I'm alternating between that minor 5 [Em] and that
Oh, I'm sorry, [Bb] that flat 5.
[B] [E]
So if you want a [Bb] bluesy, get that flat 5.
[B] If you want it kind of like [A] major
[E]
[A] [E]
You can also do that up here.
[E] [D]
[A] So I'm taking this A shape.
[E]
[Em] [Bm]
[D]
[Gb]
[E] [A] [E]
[B] Alright, just a short lesson just to keep you going.
You know, when you get to these quartet drives, it's all about keeping it simple, finding the pattern, and locking to it.
And you'll be driving in no time.
Alright, thanks for checking out this lesson.
I'll see you next time.
