Hey guys, so I got a couple requests to play the Spotify Live version of The Know by Mac Miller.
Pretty similar to the studio version, same chord structure, different voicings for it.
So let's dive right into it.
The left hand is just going to be playing octaves, carrying the bass line, which is C sharp, A, [A]
A sharp.
[Bb]
And then on the right hand, the main difference between the studio and the SoundCloud version
is instead of locking in on this F note like the studio version does, we're going to [Bbm] be locking in on the C sharp.
And we're going to be using this F, the octave below where you would, to give it more of a bassy tone [Db] to it as he does.
So it will look a little bit like this.
[A] [Bbm]
[Db] [A]
[Bbm] [Db]
[A] [Bbm] [Db]
[Bbm]
[Db] Alright, and that's just a little riff he does and the breakdowns, but we'll get to that.
[Bb] So the right hand on a studio version goes [Db] like this, but we just invert that and use this F instead of that F.
So it's
and then keep the F and the C sharp the same and we're just going to move to the A [F]
and the A [Bbm] sharp.
Right, so we're carrying the bass line essentially with the right hand.
And then, so those are the just basic chords of it, but [Db] then we're using this as the root note.
[Gb] So again, it'll look [Db] like
[A] [Bbm]
[Db] [A]
[Bb] [Bbm]
[Db] [A] [Bbm]
[Db] [A]
[Bbm] And the riff he does is just
[Bb]
[Db] I mean, you could settle there or he gets it a little more treble, you could even leave this out and do that.
And then he'll throw nuances [Bb] in, which in a way you can't really teach, it's more feel.
But just keep in mind, just stay in the scale.
So if we're hitting these chords down here, then those are all
[Eb] so he'll do stuff [Db] like
[A] [Bbm]
[Db] [A] [Bbm]
[A] [Bbm]
[Db] [A]
[Bbm]
[A] [Bbm]
[Db] [A] [Bb]
[Bbm] [A] [Bb]
[Bb] [Db] [A]
[Bbm]
[A] [Bbm]
[Db] Right, and it's pretty repetitive through.
A couple different variations, throw in little nuances as you see fit.
You know, when you think it needs to be picked up, you could use octaves on your right hand as the little accent [Bb] notes.
[F] You know, so just stay in the F, [Abm] A minor here, A flat [Bbm] rather, A sharp, C sharp, F, and then same notes all the way up and down the keyboard.
[B] [Bb] You know, hopefully that helped.
It's pretty similar to [N] the studio version, but like I said, a little less is more theory on this one.
And just [Db] remember to lock in this C sharp as your root [Bbm] note instead of this F, and you should have it.
All right, guys, thanks for watching.
Hope that helped.
If there's [N] any other videos or, you know, songs that you want me to teach you guys,
I can learn them and put them on here.
