[Em] [G] [E]
[B] [Em] I bought this guitar, let's see, about 86, from Gruen Guitars in Nashville.
And I bought it from a young man who was working there, and I can't think of his name, but
it was his.
And I think I paid 800 bucks for it.
It's a [E] 47 LG2.
I just picked it up and immediately, you know, it just had that thing where it just resonates
with you and you just sort of get all connected up with it.
The chords just feel right.
I love it.
I'd like to play it on stage, but it's just a little tender, fragile.
Sometimes I'll pick up the, [A] I got a couple of J45s.
I've got some from the [E] 80s, which I guess now are officially old [A] guitars.
It's [E] funny how that works.

I [A] was writing songs as [F] soon as I knew three chords, while everyone else was getting their chops going.
My friends [Bb] [B] were learning licks.
[F] All I wanted was a couple of chords.
I got a Mel Bay [Db] book.
As soon as I knew three or four [Abm] chords, you [Bb] know, it's like I had to start [E] writing songs.
It's just what I [A] was going to do.
[E] Down some roads [A] of silver and [E] gold, [A] but I could never [E] find you.

[B] I've been living my life like a lonesome whistle [A] blowing.
Now I can't turn back.
I was [Abm] working for a year before I [E] came to Nashville.
[B] I had just one insurance company.
[A] I was like one of the [Bm] stock boys in [E] the basement [B] that put all their [E] paper [A] [Bm] products together
[F] to send out to [E] the insurance company.
That's what I did.
The last regular job I worked for, I decided to move to Nashville because it was the closest
music center [A] to the Indianapolis office.
I was too [E] much of a Midwest kid to think about going to LA.
New York even was too scary.
I used to [A] hitchhike home [E] to eat.
