[Ebm] [Em] Ah, that's the signature opening to Paint It Black by the Rolling Stones.
Follow me with this little pattern.
You're going to play the second string open, second fret, [Ebm]
[Cm] third fret, first string [A] open,
[Ab] third fret of the second string, [E] second fret of the second string, open, open again.
[Abm] Now go over to the third fret of the third string, [E] second string open, [Gbm] second fret of
the second string.
Now this little figure that I'm going to do right here can be done a couple of different ways.
You can go open, [Gb] second fret, open, [B] landing on the third [Ab] fret of the third string.
So it goes.
[Eb] Or you can use a technique, [Db] it's actually two techniques, one following the other, a
hammer on where you play the string open [N] and you hit the second [Gb] fret.
Then you do a pull off where you actually pluck [C] the string with your left hand.
In violin [Bb] terminology we call that a left hand [E] pizzicato.
It takes a little practice to get that but it's kind of cool if you can do it.
Play the second string open, hammer on, [Bb] pull off and land on the third fret of the third string.
[G] [Gb]

[Eb] [Am] [B] E minor chord, [Em]
[B] B7, D, [D] I keep my finger barred at the second fret, little pinky up on the
fifth fret, first string, [G] G, [A] A.
[Em]
I see a red door [Eb] and I want it painted black.
[Em] No colors anymore, [B] I want them to turn black.
I see the girls walk [Em] by dressed in their summer clothes.
I have to turn my [A] head until [B] the darkness goes.
[Em]
I see a line of [B] cars and they're all painted black.
[Em] With flowers and my [B] love, both never to come back.
[Em] [D] I see people turn their [Em] heads and quickly look away.
Like a newborn [D] baby, it [A] just happens [B] every day.
[Em] I look inside myself [Eb] and see my heart is black.
[Em] I see my red door [B] and it has been painted black.
[Em] Maybe then [G] I'll fade away, not have to face the facts.
It's not easy [D] facing up [A] when your whole world [B] is black.
[Em] No more will my green [B] seagull turn a deeper blue.
[Em] I could not foresee [B] this thing happening to you.
[Em] [D] If I look hard [Em] enough into the setting sun, my love will laugh [D] with me [A] before the [B] morning comes.
