Hey guys, it's [F] been a while.
You're probably wondering where the [F#] heck I've been this whole time.
[C] I've got to be honest, I've been busy but I've been thinking about [F#m] you.
I've been thinking about the next video that I want to show [C] you and that is going to be
how to strum like Israel Kamakabibu Ole in his [Cm] rendition of Somewhere Over the [A] Rainbow.
Now I've done a video like this in the past.
[F#] This one's better.
This one's up to date.
I feel like I made a breakthrough in [A] the last couple months on the authenticity [F#] of the sound.
A lot of people put out videos on [C#m] this.
Some people will say use your thumb.
[F#] It'll sound authentic if you use your thumb.
Other people say just use [E] that index finger and go down, down, up, up, down, up and it'll sound [C#] awesome.
And it does.
It sounds good.
But I like to dig a little deeper sometimes and just try to improve my skills.
And I'm in no way claiming like I'm as good of a [C] uke artist as Iz [F#] was or I can strum anywhere
close [D] to where how he could.
But I [C] really feel like I made [B] a breakthrough and I want to share this with you.
So I'm going to play a little sample now.
And [F#m] if you decide that you want [D#] to continue on the video and [D] learning how I just strum
it, hang with [C] me and we'll show you how it's done.
[F] [C]
[G] [Am]

Another [Bm] key thing is you [G#m] have to have these fingernails [B] smooth.
I have [D#] short fingernails on this hand.
I have a little [C#] bit longer fingernails that are smoothed off on this hand here.
And I have [C] a video on how that's how you have to correct your fingernails for playing the uke.
[C#] I got a lot of people that comment [F#] and say, my fingers get [E] stuck in the strings.
I feel like [D#m] I'm ripping my fingernail off.
It [D] hurts.
What do I do?
Number [F#] one response [D] is, you [F#] know, you've got to prep your fingernails right.
[C#] This can take [C] you from beginner to moderate to advanced in playing the uke.
I have a video on how this [D#] is done.
So click into my [C] channel and watch that or click the link right here and you can follow that.
I don't [F#m] know if you noticed when I strum [C] that, but there are actually some [F#] plots with the
thumb [A#] and the index finger and then some [F#] down and up strums.
It's not just down, down, up, up, down, up.
There's more to it.
It sounds a little reggae to me.
So strings [C#] on the uke are one, two, three, and four bottom to top.
And what you're doing [D#] is you are holding your first chord and literally you're plucking
with your thumb the fourth string open [Em] with that thumb [C] and then the index finger, you're
plucking the third string open.
And then you're going down, up, and then you rest your palm on the strings and then you
go up, down, up.
I'll do that again slow.

[C] I also recommend [B] downloading the song on iTunes, [F#] buying the CD, listening to the song, [C] listening
to the details, comparing what you learned today [G#] with that, and see if you feel like
it really [C] is more authentic.

[C#] Until next time you guys, good to see you, I'll be back soon.
[C] [Am]
