[D] Hey, what's [N] happening guys?
Andy with you for another NailGuitar.com lesson.
Today we're
taking a look at Taylor Swift, We Are Never Ever Ever Ever Getting Back Together.
We've
got a chart for this one that you can follow through.
It isn't inked yet so you can't see
it too well but it is there.
You can get that to help follow you through this lesson and
as well as that I was playing through with some drums at the start there.
You can get
a free pack.
It's a thing I've put together called Gimme Drums, mp3 drum tracks, great
for playing along with and I've got a free [G] pack of 13 that you can download for free.
Check out the link down below but let's dig into the song.
So, let's have a look at the chords that we've got in here.
There's not a lot in here, you'll
be glad to know.
Not super tricky to pick up, just a bit of fast picking through the
chords.
So, our chords are thusly, C [D] add 9, like a G but those two down a string each.
[G]
G, speak of the devil, [D] we've got D but you also hit the A string so it's a D chord with
an A bass.
That's what a slash chord is when you see those slashes there [Em] and then E minor.
That's it, you've sorted out four chords.
Isn't that good?
Hooray, hit like for only
having four chords.
Alright, [Gb] so it does that all the way through but the intro we get C
C or C add [G] 9.
I'll call it C from here on so you know what I'm talking about just to
make it brief.
[D] So, C C and then we get this cool little picking pattern.
I'm going to
get even closer so you can [Gb] see it.
And it's [G] going to be E [D] string, D string, [G] G, B, B, G,
D but really a big part of this is the mute to kind of have that.
They've kind of done
some freaky sort of things on it as well but to get as close to that vibe, having those
real cut-offs to emulate that effect that's going on.
Otherwise, it doesn't quite do the
same thing.
So, that takes a little bit of work to get that going, you know, up to speed.
So, you can just play the chords otherwise.
So, so far we've got C C, [Ab] then the D with
the [D] A in the bass [A] and you're not [Gb] really hitting [D] too much of the E string there.
It doesn't
matter.
[F] You don't really hear it that much.
And then E minor gets the same treatment as
the G chord did, same picking of [Em] strings.
[A] So, we've got C C, G G, D D, E minor.
So,
[G] [D] [E]
[G] loop it over.
[A]
[Em] [G] Still too fast for you?
I'll go real slow.
You ready?
Okay, join in with
me.
C C, pick pick pick pick [D] pick pick pick, D D, E minor.
[G]
[D]
[Em] [D] Now, the hard thing is actually
getting onto those chords after the picking, you'll notice.
So, practice makes perfect.
No one said anything good comes without a little bit of effort.
And then from there,
it's all smooth sailing.
It's the same chord.
So, two hits on each.
C add 9, starting it
out.
[G] [Ab] Except on the end of it, instead of just [Em] E minor, we get [D] E D.
[C] So, C [G] G [D] D, [Em] E minor D.
[G]
[D] [Em] [B] And then it picks up.
It's kind of hard to hear the guitar amongst all of that but I
[E] like from there to then really get it jangly to emulate what's happening in all that percussion
doing sixteenth notes which is quarters.
One E and a two E and a three E [G] and a.
The guitar
is really just doing straight.
If you're playing in a band, you do that but I like to go from
[D] on the third time here and [G] [Em]
[D] then back to the hits.
[G] [D] D D for that one.
So, that one's a little
different right on the end there.
C G [D] D.
[N] Back together.
There you go.
So, I've got a load
