[Ab] British rock band the Rolling Stones formed in 1962 [D] in London, England.
The initial line-up consisted of [Gb] vocalist Mick Jagger, [Dbm] guitarist Keith Richard, [Em] guitarist Brian Jones and pianist Ian [D] Stewart
with Bill [G] Wyman and Charlie Watts forming the [B] rhythm section.
In 1962 [C] the group played an eight-month residency at a London club which caught the [Ab] attention of their first label.
This led to the release of [A] their first singles Come On and I Wanna Be [B] Your Man.
I wanna [Db] be your man, [Gb]
I wanna be [B] your man.
[G] These charting singles [Ab] allowed the Rolling Stones [Gbm] to book shows outside of London
and eventually [B] resulted in their 1964 self-titled debut.
The Rolling Stones [Ab] album featured mostly R&B [Abm] cover tunes and one [Gb] Jagger and Richard pen track, Tell [Gbm] Me You're [B] Coming Back.
Their sophomore effort 12x5 also came out in [Ab] 1964 [G] and contained their first UK hit It's All Over Now.

1966's Aftermath was the [Em] Rolling Stones' first album to feature songs written [B] only by Jagger [E] and Richards.
[Em] Notable tracks [E] were Have You Seen Your Mother [Gb] Baby [F] Standing in the Shadow and Paint It Black.
[Fm] I see my red crow and I want [G] it painted [C] black.
[F] In 1967 [E] the band released Between the Buttons [D] which spawned the tunes Let's Spend the Night Together and Ruby [Gb] Tuesday.
That [Ab] same year a tabloid newspaper targeted the Rolling Stones in an article that sparked the interest [Gbm] of the authorities to their [G] alleged drug use.
Jagger, Richards and Jones were later charged [C] with drug offenses.
This was [G] followed by the more psychedelic album Their Satanic [C] Majesty's Request which included the [F] single In Another Land.
[Ab] 1968 [Abm] saw the release of the single Jumpin' Jack [Cm] Flash and the album Beggars Banquet.
This [Gb] more bluesy record [G] produced the single Sympathy for the [E] Devil.

[E] Two circus themed concerts starring John Lennon, The Who [D] and the Rolling Stones themselves were also filmed that [Am] year
and would later be released [Eb] as the movie The Rolling [E] Stones Rock and Roll Circus.
[D] The next year Brian Jones left the band due to his drug problems and was replaced by [C] Mick Taylor.
Less than a month later [Em] on July 3rd 1969 [D] Jones was found drowned in his swimming [Db] pool.
Just two days later the [E] Stones performed at London's Hyde Park and debuted the single Honky [G] Tonk Women.

December the album [G] Let It Bleed [Dbm] featuring the song Gimme Shelter was released.
[Bm] The group also played the infamous [A] Altamont Free Concert footage of which appeared in the [E] 1970 documentary [Db] Gimme Shelter.
The live album Get Your Yah-Yahs Out [Gb] The Rolling Stones in Concert also came [Dbm] out that year.
1971's Sticky Fingers was their first record [C] on their own label Rolling Stones Records.
It marked Taylor's first release [G] with the band and generated the hits Wild Horses and Brown Sugar.
The next year the record [B] Exile on Main Street hit number one on [Bm] the charts.
It was followed by Goats Head Soup a less successful effort that still had a hit with [B] the song [Am] Angie.

Despite [G] the success of the 1974 [F] album It's Only Rock and Roll Mick Taylor quit [C] the Rolling Stones.
The first album featuring his [Am] replacement Ronnie [F] Wood was 1976's [Bm] Black and Blue.
While trying to [Bb] finish their next [G] live album [F] 1977's Love You Live Keith [G] Richards faced drug charges that delayed the recording [Bb] sessions.
In the late 70's the [C] Stones began to experience [F] poor sales and reviews.
The faster paced [A] Rock and Roll of their 1978 album [Gb] Some Girl reignited their popularity [F] especially with the help of the single Miss You.

However mounting tensions between [F] Jagger and Richards affected the recording of [Gm] their next effort [Am] 1980's Emotional Rescue.
The huge American [D] tour that followed the release [E] of the 1981 album [C] Tattoo You was later [F] documented in the 1983 film [Bb] Let's Spend the Night Together.
Their European tour of the following year saw the addition of another member to the Stones lineup [F] piano player [Db] Chuck Lavelle.
After the release of the [B] 1983 album Undercover solo [C] projects increased tensions between Jagger and Richards.
As a [Ab] result 1986's Dirty Work contained many more Richards penned tracks than usual.
Nevertheless [Abm] the pair reconciled after the death of Ian Stewart and the Stones released [Ab] Steel Wheels in 1989.
Bill Wyman retired shortly thereafter.
[Am] The Grammy winning Voodoo Lounge would [C] be Daryl Jones first album as Wyman's [G] replacement.
This was followed by the 1997 [A] album Bridges to [G] Babylon which [Am] received mixed reviews.
A Bigger [C] Bang was released in 2005 with [G] shows from the ensuing tour recorded and [Am] eventually seen in the [G] 2008 [A] film Shine a Light.
