I got married when I was very very young

Should have been thinking about college and should have been thinking about what my career was going to be
But I was thinking I'm in love and and we can get married and not really knowing what marriage was about
[Bm] we just eagerly [Em] jumped into marriage and
[F#] Maybe about three four months into the marriage
[Em] reality started to hit and
We started experiencing turbulent times
Now you also have to keep in mind that no one knew that we got married
We went to the Justice of Peace we snuck off got married.
No one knew not even my parents
so reaching out for help

[Bm] Something that I just felt like I could [Em] not do and I was afraid here
I was young and afraid afraid to admit number one that I had maybe made a mistake [Bm] and
Then [Em] afraid to ask for help
[F#] Well as life goes on of course
People started finding out [Em] and the advice that [Bm] I was getting from the people that I went to church with
Was that I needed to [B] divorce
But oh wait the same God that we sing about
The same God that we [Em] praise and we say can heal cancer and heal diseases heal sicknesses
He couldn't help my problem in my [E] marriage
[Em] He couldn't heal my fears of being married
That was what I was feeling but that wasn't the reality of [Bm] situation the [Em] reality was that God would heal my marriage
[F#] But I would have to first face the fear of letting everyone know at least the important [Bm] people know in my [Em] life
What was happening?
Talk about afraid I was afraid I was afraid to turn to my parents and say I
Snuck I eloped I got married and now I'm in trouble.
I don't know what to do
I was afraid to turn to my [B] friends and say [Em] you know what you're right
Things weren't what I thought they were and of course when they did find out the only advice that they had was
You should [Bm] leave him.
[E] He ain't no good.
[Em] He's never gonna be there for [F#] you.
Y'all were too young
But there was something inside [B] of me that would not let me let go.

We had divorce papers we had everything we were on our way
