Start Jamming...
[Bb] Hello clan the grounds I'll drink your arrow and welcome [B] to another episode of uke [C] minutes
[Fm]
[G] [Fm] All right guys [Db] this time you can miss we're going to be working [A] on chunky
[F]
[C]
[D] Now chunking is a [A] percussive technique that we're going to be using in our strumming patterns.
It's going to sound like this
[Bb] [Eb]
With a strumming pattern it can sound like this
[C]
Now [Eb] first off we're going to be [F] looking at our thumb and
The side [D] of our thumb right here [Fm] is going to be what's [A] stopping the strings from vibrating
So we're going to [Bb] take our normal down up down up strum
So [Ebm] point to yourself and point to the ground when we [Ab] point to the ground you'll notice that your thumb
[N] Is positioned [G] perfectly over the strings?
So you [F] want to practice?
Pointing to yourself and pointing down to the ground you're going to practice this
[G] Twist of your wrist so that your thumb lands perfectly on the strings like so so [B] practice landing your thumb on the strings
[N] Just your thumb so I'm pointing to myself [B] and pointing down to the ground and stopping the strings with my thumb
[N]
[Am]
Now let's add a down strum [F] to get that chunk sound [Db] the more fingers you use the stronger the chunk sound is going [Eb] to be
So [B] you're going to strum down [Ebm] and you're going to stop it with [Cm] your thumb at the same time
[D] So it's going to sound like this
[A] [F]
So it's the same form as [Eb] your down strum
So you're going to start up with pointing to yourself
Then pointing down to the ground [A] and once you point down to the ground your thumb is in the right position to [Gb] stop the strings
[E]
So almost simultaneously you're going to strum down and stop the strings with your thumb
[Bb]
[Am] [N]
[G] All right folks that was [Fm] chunking [C] make sure [F] to work on this and get it as [D] clean as you can
Start out slow and then [Db] gain some speed we use this a lot in our lessons
So make sure to get this one down [F] as I'll drink your for ukulele on the ground calm [Ebm] signing off till next [Fm] time Aloha
