[Am] [Gm] [Eb]
[F] [Dm] [G] Hey guys, this is Eugene and today I'm going to show you some useful chord [Ab] progressions
for Jazz, Neo Soul, R&B and Gospel Guitar.
So the first part I played was a typical Jazz chord progression.
It's called a 2-5-1 progression and [Bb] sounds like this.
[Am] [Fm] [Bbm] [C]
[E] [Am]
[Bb] So 2-5-1 progression in major always contains a minor 7 chord, [Am] a dominant chord, resolving
to the tonic to the major 7.
So in this case I play a 2-5-1 progression to F major.
[A] And I spice it up with a little melody just to create a cool sound.
So the first thing I played was [Ab] on the B string 6th fret going to the 8th fret.
[Gm] [Bb] And then I play the first chord which would be a G minor 7 [Gm] 9 chord.
[Bb] And that's [G] the 10th fret on the A string, [Bb] 8th fret on the D string, 10th fret on the
G [F] string and 10th fret on the B string.
[Gm] [F]
[Bb] The next chord I play is a dominant 7 chord [Ab] but in this case I incorporated a flat 9 so
[Bm] it's a [Bb]
[C] C7b9 chord.
[Bb] You play it [N] like this on the 8th fret E string, 8th fret D string, 6th fret G string and 5th
fret on the [C] B [G] string.
[F] [C] [A] Then I play another little melody, I just play the 5th fret and the 6th fret on the
B string [F] going to the F major chord.
That's the 8th fret on the A string, 10th fret on the D string, [Am] 9th [Ab] fret on the G string
and the [F] 10th fret on the B string.
[Gm] So all together.
[F] [C] [F] [Am]
If you want you can play a bar with your first finger and then just let loose of your pinky.
[Bb]
[F] You can do the same trick with a major 7 9 chord [Dm]
[Am] and this chord you play like this on
the 8th fret A string, 7th fret on the D string, [Em]
9th fret on the G string [Am]
and 8th fret on the B string.
And then you can let loose of your pinky as [Dm] well.
[Bb] [F] [C] [Dm]
[Em] The next chord progression I play is a 2 [Ab]-5-1 as well but this time in minor.
So I play a 2-5-1 progression [E] to D minor.
[Bb] [A]
[F] [E] [F]
So I [E] play some tones in between just to create a cool sound this time as well.
So the first thing I play is I play the [Bbm] 5th and the 6th fret on the [F] B string.
[E] Then playing the first chord of the 2-5-1 progression which would be in a minor 2-5-1
progression it's always a half diminished chord or a minor 7 flat 5 chord.
In this case it's an [Ab] E minor [E] 7 flat 5.
So that would be the [Em] 7th fret on the A [Bb] string, 8th fret on the D [Gm] string, 7th fret on the
G string and the 8th fret on the B string.
[E] And then I [Dm] create a little harmonic minor melody [A]
because harmonic minor fits really
[N] nicely over the dominant chord resolving to the tonic [F] to the minor 7.
[E] [Bb]
[F] So I slide from the 6th fret to the 5th fret on the B string.
[Dm] Then playing the 7th fret on the G string.
[A]
Then I play the next chord which would be the dominant chord and in this case it's an [G] [A] A7b13.
And you play it like this.
[G] 5th fret on the E string, low E string, 5th fret on the D [Db] string, 6th fret [A] on the G string
and then a 6th fret on the B string.
[Em] [E] [Bb] [A]
And then you can just [Ab] finish the progression as you want.
For [F] example [Dm] 5th fret, 6th fret on the B string and then playing your typical minor 7 chord.
[F] [E] [Bb] [A]
[Em] [Dm] I hope you liked that lesson and if you want to see more videos

_ _ [F] _ _ [Dm] [G] Hey guys, this is Eugene and today I'm going to show you some useful chord [Ab] progressions
for Jazz, Neo Soul, R&B and Gospel Guitar.
_ So the first part I played was a typical Jazz chord progression.

[Am] _ _ _ _ [Fm] _ [Bbm] _ _ [C] _
_ _ [E] _ [Am] _ _ _ _
[Bb] So 2-5-1 progression in major always contains a minor 7 chord, [Am] a dominant chord, resolving
to the tonic to the major 7.
So in this case I play a 2-5-1 progression to F major.
_ _ [A] And I spice it up with a little melody just to create a cool sound.
So the first thing I played was [Ab] on the B string 6th fret going to the 8th fret. _
[Gm] _ _ [Bb] _ And then I play the first chord which would be a G minor 7 [Gm] 9 chord.
_ [Bb] _ And that's [G] the 10th fret on the A string, _ [Bb] 8th fret on the D string, _ 10th fret on the
G [F] string and 10th fret on the B string.
_ [Gm] _ _ _ [F] _
[Bb] _ _ The next chord I play is a dominant 7 chord [Ab] but in this case I incorporated a flat 9 so
[Bm] it's a _ _ _ [Bb] _
_ [C] C7b9 chord.
[Bb] _ You play it [N] like this on the 8th fret E string, _ _ _ 8th fret D string, _ 6th fret G string and 5th
fret on the [C] B [G] string. _ _
_ [F] _ [C] _ _ _ [A] Then I play another little melody, I just play the 5th fret and the 6th fret on the
B string _ [F] going to the F major chord. _ _ _ _
_ _ That's the _ 8th fret on the A string, _ 10th fret on the D string, [Am] _ 9th [Ab] fret on the G string
and the [F] 10th fret on the B string.
[Gm] So all together. _ _
[F] _ _ [C] _ _ [F] _ _ _ [Am] _
_ If you want you can play a bar with your first finger and then just let loose of your pinky. _
_ _ [Bb] _ _ _ _ _ _
[F] _ _ _ You can do the same trick with a major 7 _ 9 chord [Dm] _
_ [Am] _ _ _ and this chord you play like this on
the 8th fret A string, _ _ _ 7th fret on the D string, _ [Em] _
_ 9th fret on the G string [Am] _
and 8th fret on the B string. _ _ _
_ And then you can let loose of your pinky as [Dm] well. _
[Bb] _ _ [F] _ _ [C] _ _ _ [Dm] _
[Em] _ _ _ The next chord progression I play is a 2 [Ab]-5-1 as well but this time in minor.
So I play a 2-5-1 progression [E] to D minor.
_ _ [Bb] _ _ [A] _
[F] _ _ _ _ _ _ [E] _ [F] _
_ _ _ _ _ _ So I [E] play some tones in between just to create a cool sound this time as well.
So the first thing I play is I play the [Bbm] 5th and the 6th fret on the [F] B string.
_ [E] _ Then playing the first chord of the 2-5-1 progression which would be in a minor 2-5-1
progression it's always a half diminished chord or a minor 7 flat 5 chord.
_ In this case it's an [Ab] E minor [E] 7 flat 5.
_ _ So that would be the [Em] 7th fret on the A [Bb] string, 8th fret on the D [Gm] string, 7th fret on the
G string and the 8th fret on the B string.
[E] _ _ _ _ And then I [Dm] create a little harmonic minor melody _ _ [A]
because harmonic minor fits really
[N] nicely over the dominant chord resolving to the tonic [F] to the minor 7.
_ _ [E] _ [Bb] _ _
[F] So I slide from the 6th fret to the 5th fret on the B string.
_ _ [Dm] _ Then playing the 7th fret on the G string.
_ _ _ [A]
Then I play the next chord which would be the dominant chord and in this case it's an _ _ [G] _ _ _ [A] _ A7b13.
_ And you play it like this.
_ [G] 5th fret on the E string, low E string, _ _ 5th fret on the D [Db] string, _ 6th fret [A] on the G string
_ _ and then a 6th fret on the B string.
[Em] _ _ [E] _ [Bb] _ _ [A] _ _
And then you can just [Ab] finish the progression as you want.
For [F] example _ [Dm] _ _ 5th fret, 6th fret on the B string and then playing your typical minor 7 chord.
_ _ [F] _ [E] _ _ [Bb] _ [A] _
[Em] _ _ [Dm] I hope you liked that lesson and if you want to see more videos
