[G] William Clark Green's single, Hanging Around, off [C] of the album Rose Queen, reached the top
of the [D] Texas music charts in the summer of 2014.
[G] It's just another notch on the belt for this [C] Texas songwriter [G] who got his start in loving,
just like a few of his [C] predecessors like Pat Green, Wade Bowen, [D] and Josh Abbott.
Hanging Around is a [G] song that we wrote about, I wrote with Kent [Em] Finley, who's a fantastic
[D] songwriter, a bunch of big songs.
Also the owner of Team Street [Em] Warehouse in San Marcos.
It was our first time writing [C] with them, and it's about a small town, it's about a guy
who, [G] it's about a guy, I guess me, who [C] is pretty much running away from [G] his hometown,
you know, and just like, throwing caution [G] to the wind, [C] and just burning out, you know.
[G] It's kind of a revival song, I guess you could say.
I'm [C#]

[D#] [C#]
[B] Throwing caution [F#] to the [C#] wind, and [B] the wind keeps pushing [F#m] me back again, [B] trying to turn
me [F#] around, I ain't gonna [D#] stay.
I [C#] ain't gonna [B] stay, gotta [F#] find out who I'm gonna be, ain't gonna find me in this [C#] town.
I [B] finally [F#] got the courage [C#] to walk and [D#m]
leave [B] everybody [C#] still hanging [F#] around.
[B] [C#]
I [F#] sure will miss Mary [C#]
Ann, but [B] I ain't gonna miss [F#] her new boyfriend.
Everyone telling me that [C#] I did it [D#m] wrong.
[D#] [B] Wasting time, [F#] but I'm lying in [C#] this shadow, when it comes down to it, [F#] doesn't really even
matter, [B] they're stuck [F#] around here [C#] and I'm already [D#m] gone.
[D#m] Yeah, I'm [C#] long [B] gone, gotta [F#] find out who I'm gonna be, ain't gonna find me in [C#] this town.
I [B] finally [F#] got the courage [C#] to walk and [D#m]
leave [B] everybody [C#] still hanging [F#] around.
