How to Play "Torn" by Natalie Imbruglia on Guitar chords
Start Jamming...
What's up guys, Brandon Slawinski here and this is your awesome tutorial video for Natalie
and Brulia's Torn.
Awesome song, probably you've heard [F] it before at some point in your
life.
[C] So check it out.
It's going to be a little complex to start off with.
I'll show
you an easier way to do an intro if [F] you're so interested.
But to start off, we're going
to go all the way up to the 8th fret on the A string.
And we're going to be playing an
F all the way up here.
Normally where you would play an F down here or if you want to
feel comfortable like this, you can play it like that.
But for the intro, because they
have that higher tone, so it's going to be 8, 10, 10, 10, muting the low E string.
[Bb] And
then we're going to do a B flat because we want those higher sounding strings.
So to
do that B flat, it's going to be 6, 8, 8, 7, and you're going to let your index finger
6, 6, take care of [F] that.
So just like that.
[Bb] And [F] it goes back, right, to that F.
[Gm] And then
we're going to do a G minor.
To do that G minor, it's going to be 3, 5, 5, 3, 3, 3.
So [C] that's just the intro.
[F] Then we're going to do an F down here.
You'll see how this
comes in useful if you want to try and play the intro a different way.
[Bb] [F] [Gm] [F] That's how you
play the [Bb] intro, a different way.
[F] It's still a little complex.
So check it out.
[Am] F, we're
going to [F] mute 0, 3, 2, 1, 1.
That's our new version of an F for the verse.
[Am] And then we're
going to do an A minor, which is mute 0, 2, 2, 1, 0.
And then we're going to do a [E] B flat.
[Bb] This is a different version of the B flat.
It's going to be mute 1, 3, 3, 3.
Now I like
to use my pinky.
Some people like to use their ring finger.
Whatever makes you feel more
comfortable.
The only time I use my ring finger is if I know I'm going to do that.
So, pinky.
That's our B flat.
[F] Alright, so just like that.
[C]
Now here's the rhythm.
The
rhythm is where [F] it kind of gets a little complex.
[Am]
[Bb]
[F]
[G] So it's a lot of down [F] and up strokes.
[Db] I hit
an up stroke [F] on that to accent it.
[Am] A minor to [Bb] a B flat.
[F]
[Am] I adore.
Don't seem to know, don't seem to care [Bb] what your heart is for.
You're not there anymore.
Now we go [Dm] into the pre-chorus, which is a D minor.
You're [A] going to mute.
It's going
to be [D] 0, 0, [Dm] 2, 3, 1.
There's nothing where we [C] used to lie.
Then we do a C, which we've
learned.
Oh, no, we haven't learned that.
So it's going to be mute 3, 2, 0, 1, 0.
Conversation
has run [Am] dry.
Then we do the A minor, which we've learned.
That's what's going [C] on.
To
a C.
Nothing's [F] fine, I'm torn.
And then we're going to hit the chorus, okay?
[Dm] So, there's
nothing where we [C] used to lie.
My conversation has [Am] run dry.
That's what's [C] going on.
Nothing's
[F] fine, I'm torn.
And then we hit the F again.
Now, this is the chorus.
[C] I'm all out of faith.
To a C.
This [Dm] is how I feel.
To a D minor, which we've done.
I'm [Am] cold and [Bb] I'm ashamed.
To a B flat.
Lying [F] naked on the floor.
To the F again.
[C] Illusion never.
To a C.
Into
[Dm] a D minor.
I'm [Bb] awake and I can be flat.
Perfect [F] sky and storm.
Sorry, I like doing that full
F.
Can't help it.
[E] So, here's [F] the chorus one more time.
I'm all [C] out of faith.
This is [Dm] how
I feel.
I'm cold and I'm [Bb] ashamed.
Lying naked [F] on the floor.
Illusion [C] never changed.
Into
[Dm] something real.
I'm wide [Bb] awake and I can see the perfect [F] sky and storm.
[C] You're a little
late.
I'm [Dm] already torn.
[G] [Bb]
And then for the [Dm] bridge it does.
[Bb] And then it does a chorus [Dm] and it
does an outro.
So, that bridge is just a D minor [Bb] and a B flat, which we've learned.
So,
you have learned [N] every single part that you need to know.
You've got the verse down.
You've
got the chorus down.
You've got the pre-chorus and you've got the bridge.
