You know we're all big [Em] fans of Jason Bolan and the stragglers here on the show.
Here's the story and the performance of one of my favorites from their album, Comal [Bm] County Blue.
[Em] It's called No Reason Being Late.
Back when I was living in New Braunfels, I had Johnny Burke come over one day and we
got kicking around an [Em] idea for a song that ended [B] up being No Reason Being Late.
[Em] And I think [C] both of us were [G] [D] going down those roads at [C] that time.
So it's been [E] a [B] fun one for [C] the crowd and it made our High in the [G] Rockies album.
[B] So it's been a good one for us.
Everybody [D] always wonders what a producer [Em] does and it can be anything from just fixing psychological
problems to [Bm] telling us [E] a good place to [B] eat in town.
It really can be [Em] anything.
But that was one where we got [G] done with the [E] song [Em] and it was all finished but it didn't
really have an intro to it.
And [G] sitting [Em] around playing a lick that [B] Craig [Em] Skinner.
Yeah, it's a Craig Skinner [Bm] lick basically.
And [Em] it worked out to be [B] this open airy [Em] intro to the song.
So I got to play a little bit of lead, sort of.

[G] We'll surely seal [C] my fate.
Oh, I [G] don't [Am] know where [D] I'm going.
[C] See no reason [D] in being [G] late.
[Em] These memories are getting [C] old.
The rave line was a bowling [G] hole and I'm jealous [D] of a kiss.
[Em] I want my idle [C] hands rock steady and sinking [G] sand.
Did I really sober up for [D] this?
They [C] say that [G] one [Am] more dance [D] with the devil [G] will surely seal [C] my fate.
So I [G] don't [Am] know where [D] I'm going.
[C] See no [D] reason in being [G] late.

Haven't seen no streets of [G] gold.
Now I'm headed [D] south again.
Well, they [C] say that [G] one [Am] more dance [D] with the devil
[G] will surely seal [C] my fate.
Oh, I [G] don't [Am] know where [D] I'm going.
[C] See no [D] reason in [G] being late.
