[Am] to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Jim Rock.
[D] [F#m]
I [G] overheard Chris Rock talking in the [F] lab.
He said, Martin Luther King Jr.'s.' I Have a Dream speech was only 14 [N] minutes. Then I'm twice as freaked out because Bruce Springsteen talking about Jackson Brown and all the women come to his shows and how good looking he was. My mom used to go to those shows, man. Until tonight, the most underrated singer, songwriter, and live performer of our time has been Bob Seger. He [G] is the beautiful [E] loser who has sold 50 million records. Bob Seger has paid more dues than all the artists in the current Billboard Top 40 [N] combined. Now you can't talk about Bob Seger and not mention the Midwest, the great state of Michigan, or Detroit Rock City. You can't talk [G#m] about Bob Seger and [N] not mention the Silver Bullet Band. Being from Michigan, raised north of Detroit, and still living there today, Bob Seger's music not only influenced me, it taught me to be proud of where you come from, and I am. He set the bar for all singers and songwriters from the Midwest. Bob Seger is the voice of the [E] working man and the living proof of the American dream. His music has always, wait, [N] I'm supposed to go here. I don't know where I'm at. [E] [G] His music has always done the talking, [Em] and in a day and age where we have gotten so far from that, let us, let the example that Bob Seger has [N] sent remind us, especially the radio stations, video channels, record companies, and artists, that nothing is bigger than the music. Nothing. I was reading in Rolling Stone magazine the other day how much Bob Seger really deserves to be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and I thought to myself, I've known that for 10 years. So now we turn another page in the life and times of Bob Seger, and in his own words, it has never rang more true than tonight, that rock and roll never forgets. I'm shaking like a leaf on a tree because I'm very proud and very humbled, very honored. Such an influence in my life, from my parents to me, to my son on down. And might I add what an incredible family man this guy is. If anybody should set the bar, set the standard for how to be in rock and roll, and how to go through it with dignity, how to not lose all your money, how not to blow everything, how to make great songs and still hold on to all that, it's Bob Seger. And for that he's a role model and a hero to me. I'm [Em] very humbled, very honored, and I couldn't be more proud like a lot of us are, especially in Michigan, in the Midwest, to induct [D] in
