Spanish guitar progression and strumming Rhythm chords

Hello friends, I would love to show you four very simple chords and a very simple strumming rhythm that make you play some nice Spanish [Dm] guitar.
The chords are D minor.
[N] [Em] So if I give you the notes, [Dm] it's from the A string 5 7 7 6 5 D minor.
[C] C major from the A string 3 5 5 5 3.
That's a bit of a funny one.
I happen to have a pinky that's kind of got [G] the exact size [C] to play those three.
Those three notes.
Some people have a different size or shape pinky, of course, and some people don't have much pinky strength.
So you could do it like that.
You could do it like that.
I find that quite harsh through the back of the hand there for me personally.
But everyone's different or you could still do with your pinky like I do [Ab] but kind of ignore that top note.
[C] You don't really need the top note.
You could play more
something like a power chord.
But anyway, that's how I do it.
Same [N] chord two frets back is [Bb] a B flat major and [Abm] then [A] A.
In this case, I'm playing it
just with my first finger as a bar and I am as I said before basically ignoring that top string.
It's basically muted.
So it's more like a power chord.
[Dm] So D minor.
[C] C.
[Bb] B flat.
[A] A.
[Ab] The rhythm I'll [G] show you is what we call a rumba.
Very simple.
It's 1 2 3 4 hit 2 3 4.
1 2 3 4 hit 2 3 4.
Down up down up [N] hit up down up.
[Ab] And you're basically just going you know, I think of it like this.
You're just going down up down up down up down up, which is kind of super easy.
It's just 8 down up down up down up down up.
Except on beat number 5 we do a hit down up down up hit up down up.
So you're replacing
the downstroke with a strike on the body.
Now I almost always play acoustic guitar and these lessons are typically for acoustic [Eb] guitarists or Spanish-speaking
guitarists or acoustic guitarists, but [F] you can do that hit on [G] an electric guitar.
It might not sound as percussive, but you can definitely do it and you can [F] experiment with it.
I hope you find some really cool sounds yourself.
So I'll do it slow.
[Dm] [C]
[Bb] Down up down up down up down up [A] down up.
Have a little go at that [B] yourself, maybe pause the video, [F] have a go.
And when you get quick, [Dm] it sounds pretty cool.
[C] [Bb] [A]
[Dm] [C] [Bb] [A] [Dm] I guess I was saying for a basic level, just going down up.
[Am] You can use your whole hand [Gbm] as kind of like just one [Dm] strumming thing.
Maybe that's what I'll encourage you to [N] do just as you're starting,
just the whole hand as one unit.
I kind of strike with [Dm] those two fingers.
[N] But when I'm doing it myself, especially at lower volume,
I'm kind of [Dm] doing this [A] little
So [Dm] I'm using my finger to go down and my thumb to go up.
[G] That's just in [F] the interest of full disclosure [E] that I'm doing a slightly different technique
than what I'm showing you and because of more [Gb] practice.
And this is a beginner level video.
But if you use your [Dm] whole hand, [C] that'll work.
[Bb] As time goes on, you can [A] develop your own hand techniques.
[N] So that's the little chords and little rhythm I wanted to show you.
Anyone who's followed my channel for a while will know that I give in other videos
options for expanding your hand technique.
So for example, that rumba rhythm, we [Dm] could add some triples.
[C] So [Bb] [Am] [N] I want to keep this little snippet simple,
but if you are interested to take it further, have a look [F] through the channel
and I'm sure you'll [B] find some things there that you can add
to this [E] basic bedrock to
