[Ab] Hey, what's up you guys?
Marty Schwartz here with GuitarJams.com.
I'm gonna give you a nice little blues lesson.
It's actually probably the most famous blues [B] riff of all time.
So I'm gonna bring it to you right now.
_ _ Let you know real quick, [N] I have three _ really killer _ signature style blues lessons.
It's a Stevie Ray Vaughan, a BB King, and an Eric Clapton style lesson.
You can click the link below and it's this little module that I created _ _ that I think
you'll really dig.
So click down there for even more lessons.
I'm gonna teach you this riff right now.
Here we go.
Alright, let's learn this little riff.
_ _ _ Basically we're just using the A minor [Eb] pentatonic scale.
We're basically doing an A blues.
[A] _ _ _ _ _ [Am] _
_ [E] _ _ _ _ _ _ _
_ [A] _ _ _ _ _ [B] We're gonna take our ring finger on the root right here, it's the 7th fret of the D.
[A] _ _ We're gonna hit that note.
_ _ _ _ _ But [B] then, you're gonna see my ring finger, I'm gonna roll it over and play the 7th [Gm] fret
of the G and the [D] B.
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ And you can look at my finger how _ [Bb] I still actually kind of feel the tip of my finger
on [D] that root note. _ _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _ _ _
That's kind of the [B] concept.
_ _ [A] _ _ _
[D] _ _ _ _ _ _ _ [Bm] _
_ _ _ [D] _ _ _ _ [A] _
Then I go [B] back to the root.
So it's _ [D] _
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _ _ [A] _ _
_ then [B] that same double cluster [Bb] on the G and B, but on the 5th fret with my index
[C] finger _ back _ _ [A] to the root.
_ _ So check it out. _
_ _ _ [D] _ _ [Am] _ _ _
_ _ [D] _ _ _ _ _ _
_ [Am] _ _ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ [D] _ _ [Am] _ _ _ [D] _
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ [Am] _
_ _ _ _ [Bb] _ _ _ _
_ _ [D] _ _ _ [Am] _ _ _
[Gb] _ _ _ _ [D] _ _ _ _
_ [Am] _ _ _ _ [Bb] _ _ _
_ [D] _ _ _ [Am] _ _ _ _
[B] _ _ _ _ [A] _ _ _ [Am] _
_ _ [B] And people ask all the time, and I answer all the time, about the looper pedal that I use.
It's a Boss RC-2.
_ Anyway, what you can do is if it's, you know, when you click down on your loop pedal, it's
the start and stop of the recording, the loop.
So sometimes it's a good idea if you're not good at your timing, you can just do a_ _ _ _ _ _
I'm gonna click down. _ _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ _ Now _ I'm in a record mode, _ but I have a beat, so I'm not worried about hitting the riff right.
I've [G] already got my beat now [D] _ looped.
[Am] _ _ _ _ [Ab] _
_ _ _ [D] _ _ [Am] _ _ _
_ [Ab] _ _ _ _ [D] _ _ [Am] _
_ _ [Bm] _ Then I have _ [D] _
[Am] an effect on my Line [B] 6 M9 pedal that just [D] gives me a bass.
_ _ [A] _ _ _
_ _ _ _ [D] _ _ _ [A] _
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ [D] _
[Am] _ _ [A] _ Now I have _ a [Am] jam track.
[A] I can practice my A blues. _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _ [D] _ _ [Am] _
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ [A] _ _ _ [Eb] _ _ _
_ _ [A] _ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ [Am] _
_ [A] _ _ _ _ _ _ _
_ [D] _ _ _ [A] _ _ _ [Am] _
_ _ _ _ _ [A] _ _ _
_ [E] _ So forth and so on.
So you know, you can, _ you know, I just wanted to give you a little breakdown on that.
So once again, here's the [D] riff. _ _
_ [Am] _ _ _ _ _ [D] _ _
_ _ [Am] _ _ _ _ [B] _ _
_ _ [D] _ _ [Am] _ _ _
And [Gb] you can look at the economy of my left hand here.
I'm just kind of cupping the strings, and I'm using the kind of the tips of my fingers.
_ [G] _ _ [D] _
And [Am] _ _ [D] _ _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ [B] _
_ _ [N] now there's variations [D] on the lick too.
[Am] _ _ _ _ [D] _ _ _ [Am] _
_ [D] _ _ [A] _ _ As [G] well as using these concepts when you're [Am] soloing.
_ [D] _
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
[Am] _ _ _ _ _ _ _ [E] _
_ _ _ _ _ [A] _ _ _
_ _ _ _ [Am] _ _ _ [D] _
_ [A] _ _ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ [D] _
_ _ _ _ [Am] _ _ _ _
_ _ [A] _ A lot of juicy [B] stuff right there.
But [N] anyway, that's one of the most popular blues riffs of all time.
_ All right, hope you enjoyed that.
I just want to remind you real quick, you can click the link [Gb] below to get three killer
[G] exclusive blues [B] lessons that are not on YouTube.
