How to Play Lonely Ole Night - John Mellencamp (cover) - Easy 5 Chord tune chords
Start Jamming...
Hey guys, Party Marty here, Easy Guitar Tunes.
I've got another really fun tune to play, one of my personal favorites actually, by John Mellencamp.
It's called Lonely Old Night.
Don't know how well it did back in the day, but I know I heard it on the radio and I used to love it as a kid.
So I wanted to put this one up there.
This is actually one of my personal favorites, so I thought I would share this one with you guys.
It's kind of neat the way the chords go on this.
There's really only three chords in it, but it ends up being five chords because you're suspending the E and the A.
The first chord is E, and then there's like an E, you add a seventh on it, so your baby finger [Bb] would go on the fourth string from the top and the second fret.
If you can jam all those fingers into that [E] one second fret.
So it's like that.
If you want to look it up, it's like an E sus4 is what it is.
[B] And then there's an A, [A]
and there's an [E] A sus4 as well.
You would suspend the second string from the bottom in the third [A] fret, so it's [A] an E.
[D] So [E] again, E, then your sus4, so E sus4, [A] then your A, your A [A] sus4, [D] then your D.
This is a great fun party tune.
[Ab] It's got kind of a distinct intro strum.
[E] It's kind of like
[A] All I'm doing is just [E] touching the bottom strings there up and down, just for that first part.
Not a really distinct sound, eh?
[A]
[A] More of a regular strum in the song for that.
And then back to the E [E] minor.
Oops.
Do that again because I messed it up.
In [D] the chorus.
[A] [D]
[A]
[E]
So practice [N] that through a few times and then join us for the song.
I do speed it up a little in this, but for the most part, those are your up and down strokes there when you're playing this tune.
Hope you guys enjoy this one, Lonely All [E] Night by John Millican.
