Hey guys, Barty Marnie here, Easy Guitar Tunes.
I've got another one of my country favorites from one of the really good Irish guys,
Garth Brooks there, it's The Rivers, one of his most famous tunes.
One of my favorite country tunes to play as well.
So I hope you guys enjoy this one.
It's been requested for quite a while now.
I was trying to figure a way to put it on, so I'm just going to stick with five chords for it.
There is a key change at the end of this song.
I'm just going to do the chorus the same at the first as you would at the end, just to try to keep it simple.
I think what I'm going to do is put the more advanced version out later on down the road.
So I hope you guys enjoy this version.
The chords are [G] pretty simple in it.
They're G, [D] D, there's an E [Em] minor, there's a B [Bm] minor, [A] and there's an A.
Again, the chords [G] are G,
[D] D, [Em] E minor, [Bm] B minor, [A] and A.
There's no scientific explanation that I can give you on the way I strum [D] this.
I just kind of strum it pretty.
So rather than ayou're just kind of brushing the strings up and down. And there's a bit of a strum in between. It's kind of like No dream is like a river, [G] never changing as it [D] flows. It's almost like a strum every time you change, but you're not hitting them hard. You're not hitting them hard, you're just kind of lightly brushing the strings. And all your wrist is doingyou see you're not really moving your whole arm, you're just moving your wrist up and down. [G] Slow it down. [D]
[G]
[D] [Em]
[A] [Em]
[D] Slow it down even more. [G]
[D]
[A] [D]
You'll see [B] me sometimes as well on the D chord, just lift the middle finger off. It's called a suspend, [D] so it just kind of gives it a nice pretty feel. A very [G] standard trick when you're [E] playing D. You use [D] it quite often. So that's all that is. Just pulling [Bb] your second finger on the bottom string of the second [B] fret off, and then hammer back on. So [D] it's like a very simple suspend. [N] So practice those chords. Practice that strum. Try to get that pretty little strum down a little bit. And then join us for the song. Excuse me, playing along with The River, Gareth Brooks. Let's give this one a go. I hope you guys enjoy my [Ebm] version of [D] this song. You know a dream is like a river, [G] never changing as it [D] flows. [G] And a dream is [D] just a vessel that [Em] must follow where it [A] goes. Try [D] and desert [G] what's [D] behind you, [Bm] you'll never know what's in [G] store. Hate to [D] see these days [G] cost a [D] battle, [A] just to stay [D] between the shores. And I will [G] sail my [D] own vessel, [G] till the river [D] runs dry. [G] Like a bird [D] upon the wind, [Em] the water's on [A] my sky. I'll [D] never reach [G] my [D] destination, [Bm] if I never [G] try. So I [D] will sail [G] my [D] own vessel, [A] till the river [D] runs dry. Many [G] times we stand [D] aside, [G] let the water [D] slip away. What [G] we put off [D] till tomorrow, [Em] will now become [A] the day. [G] Don't [D] you sail upon a shoreline, [Bm] to say you're [G] satisfied. [D] You choose [G] to [D] chance the rapids, [A] or dare to [D] dance the tide. And I will [G] sail my [D] own vessel, [G] till the river [D] runs dry. Like [G] a bird [D] upon the wind, [Em] the water's on [A] my sky. I'll [D] never reach [G] my [D] destination, [Bm] if I [G] never try. So I [D] will sail my own vessel, [A] till the river [D] runs dry. [Bm] Well there'll be [G] rough waters, [D] and a lure [G] takes you home. [Em] With the good Lord as [D] my captain, [G] I can make it through [A] the morn. And I [D] will [G] sail my [D] own vessel, [G] till the river [D] runs dry. [G] Like a bird upon [D] the wind, [Em] the water's on my [A] sky. I'll [D] never reach [G] my [D] destination, [Bm] if I never [G] try. So [D] I will sail my own vessel, [A] till the river [Em] runs [D] dry. Yes I will [Gm] sail [D] my own vessel, [A] till the river runs [D] dry. [G] [A] Till the river [D] runs dry. [G] Such a beautiful tune, such beautiful words. I hope you guys enjoyed that version of that song. [N] Again, I did leave out the key change at the end there, just to kind of keep it simple. Because it is an Easy Guitar Tunes channel. Stay tuned, I might put the harder version up there as well down the road. So, hope you guys enjoyed that. If you like what you see, definitely add a like.
