Hey guys Perry Mardy here easy guitar tunes on YouTube.
I've got another real cool [C] tune by Simon Garfunkel
It's called slip sliding away
It was a [Eb] request by a couple of my subscribers and a few buddies of mine
So I [N] thought I would throw this one up on the channel.
I do like this song and it goes over
Well pretty much everywhere you play it.
It's a real fun tune to play pretty simple as well
I kind of had a muted strum muted slap strum.
They call it I call it
I should say I do have a link to my video this video here has a little link on it if you wanted a
Demonstration on that if you don't know what I mean
Pretty simple [G] the chords are G
And a simple three note run into E minor
[Em] [G] So that would be just your regular G shape top string
[C] And then your second finger on the top [Gb] string in the second fret then your D [Em] minor
Then [D] there's a D
[C] There's a C
[Cm] And I also throw a seventh in there on the [C] C
So all it is is the same C shape
But you're putting your baby finger down on the third string from the bottom in the third fret
Giving it that nice bluesy C7.
So [G] again the chords are G run to E [Em] minor
[D]
[C] D C
C 7
So let's give this one a go the strum is [G] kind of a it's a pretty basic up-down strum with that mute
[Em]
So
[D] [C] [Em]
[G] Practice that a few times
And then that join us with the song
This is a good one slip sliding away.
So I'm gonna garfunkel
[Em] Slip [G] sliding away
Slip [Em] sliding away
[G] You know the [D] name [C] destination boy
[G] Sliding away
[Em] Well, I know man
[G] He came to my home town
[C] He was passion first woman like a thorny crown
He [G] said to the rest
I live [Em] in fear
But for you is [D] so the power and [C] I think I [D] may [G] disappear
[N] slip [G] sliding away
slip [Em] sliding away
Slip sliding away
You know the [D] name [C] destination [D] boy
slip sliding [G] away
Well [Em] I know woman
became [G] a wife
These are [E] the very words she used to [C] describe her life
She [G] said a good day ain't got [Em] no rain
She said a bad day's gonna line me up
[C] And I think of [D] the things [G] that might have been
I'm gonna miss her
[D] Slip sliding away
Slip sliding [Em] away
You know the name destination
[C] boy
[D] [G]
[F] [G]
I'm old father
Who had a son?
[C] He loved to tell the reasons for the things he done
[G] He came a long way
To [Em] try and explain
He kissed his [D] voice he lay [C] sleeping then he turned around and [G] laid his arm in
I slip sliding away
Slip sliding [Em] away
You [G] know the near [C] destination boy slip [G] sliding away
God [Em] only knows
God [G] makes his plan
[C] The [D] information is [C] unattainable
We're looking [G] at our jobs
Collect [Em] our pay
Believe we're gliding [D] down the highway when in fact we're slip sliding [G] away
Slip sliding away
Slip sliding [Em] away
[G] You know the name [D] destination [C] boy
[G] Sliding away
Slip sliding away
Slip [Em] sliding away
[G] You know the name [D] destination [C] boy
Slip [G] sliding away
[Gm]
