So this jig, the Out on the Ocean, is a little unusual in that it follows the same format as many tunes,
that is two A parts and two B parts, but in this case the two B parts are not the same.
There's a slight variation and it's normal to play this tune with one B part played a certain way
and then the second B part is played a different way.
So I'll talk you through this somewhat basic version of the tune,
but I'll include the variation for the B part,
because it's such a standard way of playing it that I would consider it a basic version.
So we start with a big long B at the beginning,
[Bm]
so that would be the first [G] phrase,
[Am]
[G] and then
[Em] [Gm] [D] [Em]
[B] [A]
[Gm] [B] [Em]
it starts again.
So Out on the Ocean starts with a B, a dotted B.
[C#]
So again we have options, we can divide that up into a long note and a [Bm] short note,
we can put the roll on the first long note,
or we can keep it as the dotted note and put the roll closer towards the end.
[E]
[F#m] [Bm] Both versions have rolls, but one is on the beat and one is a little bit behind the beat.
On the beat says
[F#] [B]
[Bm]
[F#m] [B]
[A] [Bm] [G]
