[N] Hey guys, Party Marty here, Easy [G] Guitar Tunes.
I've got another great request by a bunch of my
subscribers.
This one's an oldie, by one of the world's greatest Elvis Presley.
It's called The
Hound Dog.
Real, [Gm] real fun and easy tune to play.
Now I've seen him [E] play it out of [G] C, F and G.
[E] I've
also seen it played out of E, A and B.
[G] I actually play it because of my voice, I play it out of G.
And I kind of put a bit of [Ab] a bluesy spin [Em] on it.
We'll get into that later.
This is a great tune
to play at a party, so I hope you guys enjoy this one.
There's [D] only three chords in it the way I
play it.
[G] It's G, C [C] and [D] D.
Again, the chords are [G] G, [C] C and [D] D.
The way [Em] I play it, I kind of do a
four finger [Ab] G.
That makes it sound [G] a little better.
And I also kind of take this index finger
and I suspend the third string from the top [Ab] in the second fret.
So it sounds like this.
[G]
So your regular G shape is that second [E] string from the top.
What I do is take the kind of the
[A] fat of my middle finger and you [E] almost, you just kind of lightly lay [Bb] it over top of that second
string.
[G]
And then you use your index finger to suspend the third string from the bottom.
So
basically what you're doing is deadening the [E] second string from the top and [Bm] then the third
string from the top is the one you're [Ab] riding for the blues riff.
So [G] it's like this.
And then for
the C, what [Eb] I do is alternate with the middle finger.
That's the regular [C] C shape.
So then what
I do is string below the middle finger.
So that would be the fourth [Bb] string from the [A] top in the
second fret.
So all it is [C] is a regular C shape and then the string below it.
And then [E] the D,
I just suspend the index [G] finger and all that is is just bringing it up and [D] down.
So it's like this.
Now you can strum through this song.
[G] You don't need these little tricks, but these [Bb] are neat
little things to do.
This is just the way [Ab] that I've kind [G] of played this song [Bb] for years and it
seems to work every [E] time.
So again we'll go [G] G.
Suspend that third string from the top in the
second fret and with your middle finger you did the second string from the top.
In C [E] you alternate
strings.
The [C] regular C shape and then the middle finger, the string below it.
[G] And then there's the
D.
You [D] just lift it.
Lift in the index finger.
[G] [D] So when you put it all [G] together it kind of sounds
like this.
[C]
[D]
[C]
[Em] [G] [Gm] So that's how it sounds fast.
So [E] I'll slow that [Abm] strum down.
It's pretty [Am] basic.
[Em] It's an
up and down [Abm] strum, but it's a [Bb] fast strum.
So [Ab] once you get onto it, it does sound pretty good and a
lot of fun [E] to play.
So we'll [Db] slow it down and then we'll get into [G] the song.
[A] [G]
[C]
[G]
[D]
[C]
[G]
[Ab] So practice that strum, practice those chords and even use those techniques if you want and
then join us for the [Bb] song.

So thanks for that request.
[E] I hope you [G] guys
enjoyed that [Abm] one.
